So back on topic... Steve is safe at Indiana for 2022. However, his seat is getting a bit warm. He has more resources and a larger operating budget than the previous staff had ( anyone remember beautiful University Gym?). With added resources comes heightened expectations. He needs a big year, and it should start with making smart hires to replace Krista and Dan. Yes indeed, and that warrants a "yikes!" My wife and I went to a few matches there, and it was almost embarrassing. Kinda like a nice high school gym. |

Sadly he needs to get on board with how to talk with people. Olden days of cussing at kids and talking out both sides of his mouth are gone. You want to be the cool coach friends with your players and tell them its ok to be a college student and then come back and embarrass them for doing just that. Or make cool videos when he was at Maryland is a joke. Trust me things are getting real hot real quick.

Aird is a great marketer but from what I have heard, That's as far as it goes. I know players personally that he mentally ruined and it took them awhile to recover If not scarred premenently. He is a phenomenal salesman but the proof is in the pudding. Girls need to be coached and it takes a special person to bring out the best in them and he's not it. Promises the world but doesn't deliver the goods. IMHO...

Speculation: stress associated with being head coach maybe bringing out some less than desirable characteristics. Stress can do that. For some, it appears that an instinctive, but counter-productive, response to stress is their norm. Just speculation, but curious a promising young coach appears to be having an onset of problems apparently of his own making.
