Think this is Byrd's contract year...could be hot seat material! I am pretty sure she has two years left after this year. She signed an extension after their sweet sixteen run with this new AD. Will be interesting because this team should not be where they are. I generally believe most SEC volleyball fans overestimate where their teams **should** be. However, A&M fans might have a legitimate gripe: bottom 3rd of the conference in Byrd's 5th season is underachieving. I expect more from A&M. I'm sure it doesn't help their rival is the #1 team in the country.

Who do we have making the tournament? Florida, Kentucky, Arkansas, Auburn and Georgia Outside looking in? LSU, Miss State Flip flop Tennessee and LSU after this weekend. And Tennessee still has 2 games with Miss St too. With Mahaffey back they are a much improved team and they showed it this past weekend with dominating win over LSU.

LSU is still in way better position than Tennessee. LSU is #38 in RPI, 2 top-25 wins and 5 top-50 wins. Tennessee is #54 in RPI with 2 top-50 wins. Sure, Tennessee can still play themselves into the tournament and LSU play themselves out. But, right now, the safer bet is to bet on LSU than Tennessee making the tournament. Mississippi State is also in worse position than LSU.

SEC Player of the Week -
Morgahn Fingall, Tennessee
SEC Offensive Player of the Week -
Morgahn Fingall, Tennessee
Fingall, a senior right side from Fairfax, Va., averaged 5.75 points and 5.00 kills per set and owned a .355 hitting percentage in a 3-0 week for the Lady Vols. Fingall began the week with 17 kills and 13 digs in the five-set win at Ole Miss Wednesday night. In the opening match against LSU on Saturday, she recorded 16 kills with zero errors and a .516 hit percentage. In that match, Fingall tallied her 1,000th career kill, becoming the 23rd player in program history to reach the milestone and just the 10th to do so in the rally-scoring era. In Sunday's match against the Tigers, she had a career-high 27 kills to help her squad earn the series sweep.
Defensive Player of the Week -
Lilly Gunter, Mississippi State
Gunter, a junior defensive specialist from Oviedo, Fla., averaged 5.00 digs per set in the three-set win at Alabama. Gunter contributed 15 of the team's 52 digs for the match as the Bulldogs led the conference in digs per set this week (17.33). She also added four assists and two aces.
SEC Co-Setter of the Week -
Alexis Stucky, Florida
Stucky, a setter from Laramie, Wy., dished out 46 assists in Friday's win over Missouri on Friday. It marked a career high performance for Stucky in a three-set match. She also helped the Gators to post a .314 team hitting percentage for the match.
Emma Grome, Kentucky
Grome, a sophomore from Loveland, Ohio, tallied 46 assists in Wednesday night's win at Georgia. Her 46 assists tied her season-high mark in a three-set match. It was also her 13th match this season with 40+ assists, including 10 SEC matches.
SEC Freshman of the Week -
Kendal Kemp, Auburn
Kemp, a middle blocker from Eagan, Minn., averaged 3.19 points, 2.25 kills and 1.50 blocks per set in the series sweep over Texas A&M. For the weekend, Kemp posted a .400 hitting percentage with 18 kills on 35 attempts. With her eight total blocks versus the Aggies, she now has 135 total blocks for the season, just seven shy of tying the Auburn single-season record.

correct me if I'm wrong but I think the SEC had Player of the Year (Stumler), Freshman of the Year (Grome), and Libero of the Year (Beavin) last year I think the Player of the Year is pretty likely going to Rutherford regardless of who wins the conference between Florida and Kentucky, the stats are hers Freshman of the Year probably Stucky? maybe if Florida doesn't win the conference one of the Auburn freshmen like Anderson or Kemp gets in there Libero of the Year...I'm not sure. I'd like to see Jenna Hampton get it even though her team isn't that great. Who else could fit in there? My money is on Ella Larkin for Libero of the year I agree as long as they make the tourney. Lot of back-handshake deals with these awards in the past where more deserving players get shut out. Other than this past weekend, Ella has put up some spectacular numbers! She has my vote as well.

I'm the guy who makes all the handshakes ensuring Kentucky wins SEC libero of the year every year and I just wanted to clear up a couple things. First of all, we don't actually meet in back alleys, that's a misnomer. We're not savages, we meet in well-lit conference rooms, sometimes on boats. Also, Beavin's gonna be LotY again, wrapped that one up Saturday when I shook 46 hands over the course of about 6 hours. Have 2023 tentatively wrapped up too, but sometimes you gotta shake both a left *and* right hand, as they say in our business.

I never said "back alley"; maybe in someone's backyard behind the moonshine distillery!

SEC fans acting like the SEC is the only conference where the individual awards go to players on top teams
SEC fans also acting like UK isn't one of the top 3 (if not better) places for liberos to train in the country
