not getting over larkin not being on here her stats speak for themselves especially a setter last year going to libero! she was amazing this year Ella had a great year! She's not really a setter...just got thrown into the position because Flory felt one setter on the roster was enough (that's another story)! Ella did an admirable job being thrown into that position, just shows how athletic this kid is! Super happy that the girls finally got back into the tourney!!

But Larkin had a great season.

But unfortunately liberos tend to get overlooked for conference awards, and it happens in other conferences as well. For example, I watched the Rice vs. FIU game, and I thought the FIU libero was better than the Rice one. Turns out she led the conference with 5.15d/s but wasn't mentioned on All-conference. Is it fair? No, but it does happen.

^yeah, this is insanity.
Dotson and Anwusi deserve better
just saw this sorry lmao. Anwusi ? She hit 290 with less than 2 KPS and had like 0.7 bps . Dotson has a better case with 3.6 KPS but her hitting percentage leaves a lot to be desired but I’d take her over Anwusi Good thing the conversation was about who you'd take over two Texas A&M players, not which LSU player you'd select.
But I agree, take Lednicky out, replace with Dotson. Meuth can stay.

nah. Freshman opposite with over 4 KPS set deserves all conference. She hit for a higher percentage than Dotson too.

I just think it’s dumb that all conference selections are by team or whatever. They clearly aren't lol? Teams that are more balanced are going to be disadvantaged. Of course Lednicky and Meuth are going to have high kills/sets numbers -- they're the only two players A&M set.

Also I typed that badly. I meant that some people think that’s the way it should work.

A quick pre-tournament, pre-portal craziness look at what next year looks like, roster wise -- using 3 main categories: Done (Out of eligibility or known to be leaving), Due back (confined to contributors this season), and Decision to make (COVID years). If I've missed a post about someone returning or departing, please chime in! (Basically, this is a jumpstart on the "SEC 2023" post.)
Alabama: The Tide recognized six folks on Senior Day: Drapp, Janek, Kuck, Marjama, Shook, and Wells. Though I think some could come back. Gone: Marjama Due Back: Gryniewicz, Gholson, Schmer, Smith, Jacobs, Moore, McCormick, Slusser, Reaugh, Campbell Decisions to make: Wells, Shook, Janek, Kuck, Drapp (though with as little time as Drapp and Kuck got, their decisions may already be made)
Arkansas: Senior Day for the Hogs featured only their grad students - Dirrigl, Shipes, and Ryan. Gone: Dirrigl, Ryan, Shipes Due Back: Gillen (already announced she's coming back), Head, Archibong (COVID math!), Jackson, Hogue, Evans, Calame Decisions to make: Cartwright (I think she's coming back)
Auburn: no seniors on roster. Gone: nobody Due Back: Everybody Decisions to make: nobody
Florida: The Gators recognzied Markova and Robinson on Senior Day. Gone: Markova, Robinson Due Back: B Hendrickson, Hoyle, Stucky, Canaan, Thomas, Adams, Kelley, Beason, Fitzpatrick, C Hendrickson, Victoria, Okammor, McKissock Decisions to make: none (Markova has already decided, evidently)
Georgia: The Dawgs recognized four players on Senior Day: (Naves) Powell, Froemming, Fortin, & Stivrins. Evans, also a Senior, was not recognized. Gone: Powell, Stivrins (intsa post saying that she was done) Due Back: Fischer, Evans, Norris, Maesch, Cox, Brower, Haugen, Downing Decisions to make: It seems like they've been made? Froemming, Fortin, and Stivrins have all indicated they're done (at UGA, anyway).
Kentucky: Recognized Bell, Berezowitz, Franxman, Rollins, and Tealer on Senior Day, but Tealer has already announced she's coming back. Gone: Rollins, Franxman, Due Back: Tealer, Grome, Rutherford, Goetzinger, Lamb, Williams, Beavin, Walker, Melby, Whitworth Decisions to make: Bell? Berezowitz?
LSU: The Tigers honored five players on Senior Day: Vondran, Morris, Jacobs, Bohnet, and Gauthreaux. Hill, Dotson, and Anwusi, who are also seniors, were not recognized, indicating that they will likely be back. Gone: Vondran, Jacobs, Gauthreaux are all out of eligibility, I think. Also Morris and Bohnet, one assumes, won't be back. Due Back: Flickinger, Larkin, Anwusi, Hill, Dotson, Williams, Echter, Waak Decisions to make: Seems like they've been made? Morris & Bohnet?
Mississippi State: The Bulldogs recognized Waden and Robinson last year on Senior Day, and this year they recognized Jeffcoat, Coulter, Walters, and Culumovic (who I believe is transferring for her COVID year?) Gone: Waden, Robinson, Coulter, Walters, Jeffcoat, Culumovic (So … I am hearing that this list might need to be expanded considerably) McBride has appeared in the portal now. As are Gunter and Petties. And now I've got confirmation on Cromartie, too. The Darty Party has struck midnight. Due Back: Gunter, Cromartie, Petties, Walk, McBride, Agee, Myrick, Oerther, Williams (and this one may need to shrink) Decisions to make: Myrick, I guess? Is technically a senior but has eligibility left. Oerther is in the same boat, but has already transferred. I guess she could grad transfer?
Mizzou: This one is tough given the coaching change and rumors of extensive portal activity. It seems that Dixon, Carlson, and Mangual-Duran were honored on Senior Day (based on a photo). Gone: Carlson for sure. I believe that Dixon and Mangual-Duran have additional COVID-year eligibility. Rumors are that Cox is in the portal, as well as Buckley, Dixon, and deMarrais. I can't confirm this, though. Rumors about about additional departures, which is not unexpected. Due back: Take all of this with a grain of salt: Zatechka, Sell, Iliff, Forbes, Isenberg, Lyon, Strasser Decisions to make: Everyone not named Carlson?
Ole Miss: Kinda the same? Hard to know with a potential coaching change. On Senior Day, Fischer, Bair, and M Miller were all recognized, though Bair and Miller have a COVID year if they want. Fischer is out of eligibility. Gone: Fischer Due Back: (again, grain of salt) Niesen, V Miller, Borellis, Middleton, Samilton, Dyess, Corelli, Brgoch, Schnitta, Ratliff, Daniel Decisions to make: Everybody, but notably Bair and M Miller.
South Carolina: I couldn't find a write up of SC's Senior Day activity, but both Hans and Hampton are noted as grad students on the roster, suggesting that they are out of eligibility. Other seniors listed on the roster include Moorman, Covas, Eastridge, and Brown, though I believe all of them are potentially still eligible with COVID years. Gone: Hampton, Hans, Schlageter (transfer), Covas (in portal) Due Back: McCutcheon, Wilson, Carter, Ruprich, Fletcher, Whitesides, Johnson. Decisions to make: Moorman, Eastridge, Brown. Moorman does have an early season social media post describing this season as her "last."
Tennessee: The Lady Vols recognized 5 seniors: Hayward, Finghall, Mahaffey, Matoso, and Robinson. I believe that Finghall and Robinson may have COVID/RS years left, however. Gone: Hayward, Mahaffey, Matoso. Due Back: Lovett, Granberry, Brooks, Boothe, Ekeler, Pawlik, Laborda, Merrick, King Decisions to make: Finghall, Robinson
TAMU: Another coaching change situation, so anything is possible. On Senior Night, the Ags recognized Cox, Lauren Davis (medical retiree), Karakasi, Bowser, Hecht, and Fields. Bowser, Hecht, and Cox have additional eligibility, I believe. Gone: Karakasi, Fields Due Back: Meuth, Lednicky, Guinn, Cos-Okpalla, Underwood, Buzlutepe, Wilbircht, Johnson, Hogan, Brown Decisions to make: Everyone? But apparently Cox, Hecht, Bowser
Again, all pretty early, could change based on things like hires and transfers that haven't been announced just yet.

As of now, SEC is 5-1 with Tennessee losing in 5 sets and Kentucky on to the Sweet Sixteen.
Florida, Arkansas and Georgia win their opening games.
Auburn and LSU are battling in the 2nd set right now down 0-1 in sets to Creighton and Hawaii respectively. Playing tough and have a chance to win it.
Georgia has Texas in the 2nd Round shortly.
