Ooh I forgot to mention the improvement of Harrison’s blocking since she first arrived at Baylor. She was fearless against Smrek.

Through some boredom and restlessness last night, I decided to score Baylor’s passing vs. Wisconsin. There were multiple points that were cut out during the stream so I probably got to score about 80% of the receptions (69 attempts) but here’s what I had:
As a team, Baylor passed a 2.19 with a 50.7% good pass percentage.
Keene was absolutely phenomenal and rock solid in serve receive, passing a 2.67 and 61.1% GPP. Her defense in right back was also impressive, as she led the team with 10 digs.
Briseño was next, passing a 2.36 at 54.5% GPP. She had the most receptions (from what I was able to score).
Harrison’s numbers on surface level are not good. She passed a 2.0 with a 40% GPP. But if you break it down, her passing really became more steady as the match went on. In the first half of passes I scored, she was passing a 1.5 at 16.6% (YIKES). She turned it around monumentally, in the second half of her passes, with a 2.5 at 66.7%. Keep in mind, she’s never really had to carry this much of a passing load before, and now she’s being asked to pass in two at times. Consistency will come.
Dacosta seemed to be the exact opposite of Harrison. Passed a 1.76 at 41.2% after starting off strong and then essentially becoming a liability as the game went on. In the first half of her passes, she was at a 2.11 and 55.6%. Second half she dropped off monumentally, and passed a 1.38 at just 12.5%. Maybe the intensity of the match as it progressed got to her, but she was definitely the target down the stretch.
I’d be interested to see what the official numbers were for the whole match, but overall it wasn’t an awful passing performance from the team. First contact will be crucial as Baylor looks to run their middles more than they have in years prior. They were able to get 9 kills each from Talbert and McGhee. McGhee only scored 9+ kills one time last season, so I really enjoyed what Baylor was able to do in the middle on Saturday.

Averi with her first of 14 freshman of the week Big 12 honors Simpson may actually sneak one of the weekly awards at some point. Had she not been so shaky in her debut, her performance against Wisconsin would have been worthy of recognition.

Imagine their surprise when they see Averi's name on the trophy as the namesake!

Hey Baylor fans! I wanted to see if you could help me out with a lineup prediction for the Bears in this weekend's tournament. I put together a match thread for the Pepperdine Asics Classic and would like to include a likely lineup, from setter all the way through to serving specialist. And here's a link to that tournament thread: #9 Baylor, UCSB, & SDSU at (RV) Pepperdine | Sep 1-3Thanks!
