If Aird gets the job, I'm done watching PSU volleyball for a while. Would love to see Fisher from Pitt get the job. Ultimately, the new coach has to be a great recruiter, that's what's been lacking the past few years. According to some, we should have news in the next week or so. I think Fisher would be great...already recruiting well in the same state, has used the transfer portal to great success, relatively younger, has built his program to its best few years ever, and I think he's hungry to take that next step....which is where PSU wants to get back to. He and McCutcheon are my top choices w/o Penn State ties...Tamas might be my third. Doubtful Fisher leaves Pitt considering the program is on the rise and has been since he got there. I think he enjoys being at Pitt. I don’t see him leaving anytime within the next 5-10 years depending on if they can pull out a National Title within those years. Just my opinion though

It would seem really foolish to me for Penn State to hire someone who isn't currently a head coach. This is a top 10 job. You don't need to hire an alum or a former assistant. You should go out and offer the job to the best 5 head coaches in the country and make them tell you no. Anything else is malpractice. KBB Yes. Offer Kirsten. Offer Dani. Offer Dan Fisher and Hugh McCutcheon and anyone else that wouldn't need to learn how to be a head coach at Rec Hall. This is not a training wheels job.

This athletic department just re-signed James Franklin for $7 million a year. If they're not offering at least $500K to the head coach of a Cadillac volleyball program then why is Sandy Barbour even getting out of bed in the morning? The salary is obviously based on who you’re offering it to. Heck, I don’t think Rose was making that as base, and he won 6-7 titles. The question is are they prepared to pay that? $500k wouldn’t get Hugh and maybe not even Fish. Busboom may take it for 500k, but Louisville would possibly match it. If a top assistant like Dildine was hired you sure shouldn’t have to pay them 500. I’d have to believe that if the job was offered to an unproven coach, the salary would be in the middle of league, maybe just above middle. Depends. Brent Venables was making over $2 million/year as an assistant and was just hired at Oklahoma where he'll make over $7 million/year. Now, obviously women's volleyball isn't football, but still. If they wanted to hire Dildine (for the sake of argument, let's imagine that they've been turned down by the DBKs and Fishers of the world), then they may have to really step up to get her to take the job. $500K isn't that much for a school like Penn State.

That would seemingly eliminate a Panther..... It's called a cat but not a member of a cat...more in the weasel family. That would be the fisher or also known as fisher-cat: a short legged brown haired member of weasel family

Fisher is the one and I’m sticking to that till proven wrong. If I were him Maybe now is the time to bring in one of these psu alum as assistant. Fawcett is out but Wilson could be good pickup. Heard she’s good recruiter

Yeah, this all but shows you the path...the "Fisher" is a family of weasel. Dan Fisher is the head coach at Pitt (Panthers - cat family)

If it is Fisher, well done by Penn State. I would then admit my criticisms of Barbour would turn out to be very wrong.

He is proven as a head coach. The guy has won everywhere he’s been and look what he’s done to that pitt program. Rockwell is solid but unproven as head coach. With her time will tell but Fisher has proven what he could do at head coach level. Let’s see what he does with new conference now cause BIG is not the ACC

He is proven as a head coach Would this cause movement at Pitt? or do one of the Assistants hang back? I imagine he'd want to take the whole crew who helped him ascend to this level...??
