When BYU is going to Big 12 Conference, will USD schedule BYU in the OOC or play them in a tournament? That's a good question. As a BYU fan, I would like them to continue to schedule the better WCC schools like San Diego and Pepperdine.

I wonder if the WCC will add more schools to their conference since BYU has left?

I wonder if the WCC will add more schools to their conference since BYU has left? Another good question. I've heard Cal Baptist, Denver, Seattle and Grand Canyon thrown around as a possible replacement. On the other hand, I think it's very possible that Gonzaga (the school that calls the shots in the WCC due to their basketball program) might decide to just stay at nine schools.

It's too bad that Gonzaga gets to call all the shots. The rest of the conference better saddle up and get better to catch up to Gonzaga to get the piece of the power in the WCC

More awkward for BYU. Allen was their best passer last season. Now their best returning small passed a 1.98. And Allen will not be the target if Katie Lukes is passing. Saying someone was BYU's "best passer last season" is damning with faint praise. I actually don't think Allen leaving will hurt BYU that much. The things she's good at (floor defense, serving) are things that BYU is collectively good at. And the area where BYU struggles the most--passing--is something that she isn't particularly good at. If the new players can't pass, then Allen being on the team wouldn't suddenly make them good at passing. Anyway, she can probably help San Diego as a DS (I agree with others that she's unlikely to displace Benbow). Or if nothing else, she can be a good serve specialist. As for BYU, maybe it's a blessing in disguise if it means that they can find someone who actually is a good passer to play libero. I'm not optimistic about next season, but maybe in 2024. I think that is unfair. It is easy to blame the players but BYU had two transfers that were good passers at their previous schools (Reinert and Koerber). Both had the worst passing year of their careers. BYU has developed one player (Mary Lake) with a 2.2+ passing grade in the last five years. That is a coaching issue.

It may be a coaching issue, but it's not "unfair" to point out that Allen isn't a very good passer. Maybe she will be in the future, but I doubt it. If you look at what I've said over the years about Allen, I've been fairly positive. But it is a fact that she has never been a particularly good passer at the D1 level. If she suddenly becomes a very good passer after she transfers, then I will acknowledge that fact. But that's a pretty big "if." I wish her the best. Edit: I'm not even sure what you think is "unfair" about what I said unless you think any criticism of a player underperforming is unfair. I said that nobody on BYU, Allen included, was a good passer the last few seasons, which is true. I highlighted some things that Allen actually is good at and noted that these are things that the team collectively is good at, while the area where Allen struggles is also what the team struggles at collectively. None of that is unfair.

I was pretty happy about the Allen news until it dragged the BYU riff raff into the USD thread.

Koerber passed a 2.26 in the spring (Utah) and 2.05 in the fall (BYU). Reinert passed a 2.16 in the spring (Santa Clara) and a 2.04 in the fall (BYU). I think it's unfair to point out that Allen isn't a good passer without recognizing that BYU isn't developing good passers (and is making good passers worse).

I am having trouble finding the pass rating for Annie Benbow the past couple years. What is her pass rating?

I am having trouble finding the pass rating for Annie Benbow the past couple years. What is her pass rating? I asked @madden55 and he's gonna look. But we've talked about it before and I'm pretty sure it was right around a 2.0. Definitely in the 1.95-2.05 range if I'm not mistaken. Wasn't very good...she's definitely known more for her floor defense.
