Wow, this discussion always is so fun to rehash. Just enjoy 2022 rocket version of the AAC. It will be a tough conference, then who knows.

Itβs official. UH, UCF, and Cinci headed out to Big 12 next fall. The AAC will look much different.

I wonder how all the conference potential changes will play out for the AAC. I think a couple of P5βs that are left out of the switch up may end up in the AAC. Big 12 and ACC schools.

She might be a Fantasy Champion and an AAC Champion, challenging Melville for POY. If anyone is going to upend UCFβs 4x reigning conference champ status, itβll be Houston or SMU. Maaaaaybe Wichita State gets it all together this year too.

Houston with a nice win over LSU. And a really surprising win from Cinci over Florida State. And WSU over Iowa State!!

UCF with 1st win vs Syracuse. Why did they not play the 1st week?

UCF with 1st win vs Syracuse. Why did they not play the 1st week? UCF max'd out their competition dates still, with 28 total. One theory is maybe they didn't want Melville playing 2 matches in one day? UCF has no doubleheaders this season. If the AAC had their tournament still UCF could have played week 1 with at least 2 more competition dates (or would have been nice to see them go out to Hawaii, since those don't count against competition dates). But with 20 conference dates, it doesn't leave a ton of flexibility in the non-conference.

WSU loses to Omaha, 3-1, and defeats Northern Colorado, 3-0. Thursday/Friday matches and done for the weekend.

UCF and Houston having great results so far this season.
SMU could have easily been a 3rd tournament team with their schedule, but losses to Utah+Texas Tech were crucial, those were an opportunity for a non-conference significant win. Then losing to UConn made the situation worse. They also got swept by UCF at home.
Looking extremely likely the AAC is a 2-bid league. Both could be subregional hosts. UCF with a great chance.
Houston has a chance too - don't drop any gimme games and/or beat UCF, have a couple things break their way.
Houston has a few things in its favor: RPI/Futures LOVES Kennesaw State and LSU is better than expected. I'm not sure Mississippi State will stay Top 25, but, either way that's still a good win.

How do we feel about the first round finishing out for the AAC? Aside from Houston going undefeated (looking like a 2 bid league this year), what other things were maybe notable? Preseason poll seems a little off as to where certain teams are falling. Super competitive overall this year, even the top 2 teams are getting pushed in their W's.
