Progressive they are not. See Amy Coney Barrett. Slightly more progressive would be the Jesuit schools. Assuming athletes in Catholic prep schools are interested in Catholic higher Ed is a pretty broad brush. Maybe the kids that aren't athletes. Notre Dame is Christian Bros, correct? From the website:

They did not provide all that was needed in the past. Why would that change now? Serious question.

People are always thinking that whatever their impression they have of a school or a program has and will always be the same. Could it be that their view of volleyball has has evolved over the years? That the president and the AD may have changed and the attitude has similarly changed regarding volleyball? They made a huge statement when they hired Jimmy Mac. Even with the connection he had with ND, he would not have agreed to return if he was not sure about the support from the school. They also made a statement when they hired Mike Johnson to be the associate head coach. Remember that Mike left Xavier as the HC to be an assistant at ND. This is not like hiring an assistant, it was a big deal when it happened, it sent a message. So when Jimmy Mac had to get out of coaching for his health, Mike was a reasonable candidate and a natural choice. Indeed, how do you know that this arrangement was not planned because Jimmy Mac knew his back might be giving his problems and that he needed a steady hand on the helm if and when he is incapacitated. Calling promoting Mike a mistake is subjective, and in 20/20 hindsight. It really has no bearing on the situation when they hired him. But they have not always shown that willingness to support volleyball until relatively recently.

The program was well supported during that period. That goes back to the early 1990s. Are you talking about before that?

The real question is who are her assistants? Does Kindra stay?? That would appear to be totally unlikely. It’s very, rare assistants are retained, she doesn’t have any connection to Salima, they’re going to have what I’d imagine are great salaries….

The real question is who are her assistants? Does Kindra stay?? Wouldn't be surprised to see a former co-worker of hers join the Irish staff.

Exactly who I was thinking as well if he’s up for another move….is there any chance he could get PSU if he wanted? I didn’t think so but with not securing Fisher I don’t know what to think

I would love to see Dyer get a HC job. I think he played a big part in getting Pitt on the road to success with the players he recruited just before he left.
