Depends which men's D1 libs not allowed to serve. (interesting enough, also they use the FIVB 6 sub rule too!) D3 liberos can, and NAIA, there are no rules! (well, they do at least allow libs to serve, and unlimited subs, which is a HOOT to score!)

If they allow this to happen, what is next?? Allowing the players to overhead dig with their hands and not call doubles?? Talk about ruining the skill set. Will ruin the game. Being able to touch a volleyball with your hands such that it doesn't spin (or has minimal spin), is an arbitrary "skill" that isn't particularly interesting or beneficial to the game. In my opinion. Agreed, but I can't even tell who is being facetious anymore considering you can double the first contact regardless.

This might be an unpopular opinion, but, I'd vote in favor to not allowing the libero to serve. I also want to change the pursuit rule back to the old rule. ^ both of these are different than NCAA Men's (at my last check). What do you think in general about allowing a sub to come in for a player who is rotating into the serve?
DS subing in and serving and playing defense for a pin, for example.
Pending their answer is interesting because of where you are going with this. Considering the libero can only serve for one person anyways you are essentially accomplishing the same thing without using a sub for that player, and chances are it is for a middle so you are using one less sub every 3 rotations for the complimenting MB.

I'm simply saying, you could have the rule be something like: no player who is rotating into the serve is allowed to be subbed out at that time. So you either have to sub for the prior serve receive, or wait until after the serve to sub out.

If you are old enough, and most are, you heard the "this will ruin" argument when they did away with doubles on 1st contact.

Gotcha, as I had said before I have played and coached through multiple different iterations of the rules and as the game stands today I do not see any current rule that is in the game impacting it to a point where it has made it unrecognizable or wrecked the original concept.....only improved on it. All of the sh*tty tinkering they have done over the years has sifted itself out and the minute changes made here and there are for the better...replay, challenge, etc. While I am not a fan of eliminating double contacts in regards to 2nd contact, I think in the bigger picture it takes away the judgment call from those bad refs who like to get on a "back in my day" power trip and enforce a rule that is totally subjective outside of the obvious.
