A post on Jordan Larson got me thinking. Volley Talk has had an influence on the verbage that is now used regularly by fans. I’ve heard people at games refer to Nebraska’s players as’ the ‘women of corn.’I know that phrase began on Volley Talk. What other phrases has Volley Talk had an influence on? Has Volley Talk had an influence on the general culture of volleyball today.

OK, just to keep the Nebraska-Texas rivalry going (and equally obnoxious), I hereby trademark the reference to Texas players as the 'women of horn'...

Mango / banana had some traction for a while. Definitely heard that outside of VTalk.

I initially read this as "couture" and I was wondering where I could snag some VT gear.
I've been watching too much QE lately. New season recently dropped.

methinks some volleytalkers have a much higher opinion of this site's actual influence on anything beyond electrons and made up names

The term definitely didn't originate on VT, but it became somewhat pervasive even among volleyball broadcasters after that post whining about it was on the front page for like a week. Ironically, complaining about the term made its use more widespread.
