I like the "Chicago Cup" weekend that they have going, with UIC, DePaul, Loyola, and Northwestern. dunno if this is a yearly thing or just a one-off, but I like it. I wish more cities would do something like this as well. Boston, NYC, Philadelphia, D.C., LA, Bay Area, etc. Boston has the Beanpot for hockey, Philadelphia has the Big 5 for other sports.

Of the six D1 universities in greater Philadelphia, three don’t have volleyball. Shows how much that city cares about the sport.

I imagine most teams in the same cities play each other every year, even if not all at once. But you could easily track the results, and crown one champion.

OK so why not play everybody at least once instead of 8 of 10 twice?? HL has full double round robin 18 matches as per that graphic. Detroit Mercy doesn't have volleyball.

It would be interesting to see if anyone would do this. I think that some of the larger schools might oppose this, but imagine a three day tournament with all of the Ohio schools. BGSU Cleveland St Kent St Miami OSU Ohio Akron Cincinnati Dayton Toledo Wright St Xavier Youngstown Ok, so 13 teams makes it tougher. But with 12 you could do 4 groups of 3, each team plays twice. Top seeds go into a group of 4, 2nd place into another group of 4, and 3rd place into a third group of four. Make a mini-bracket and play for champion of the state of Ohio! I know this is a dumb idea, but it would cut way down on travel, and would bring the entire state (or city in the original idea) into one place. Two major challenges with Ohio, 13 schools and most are MAC teams which would mean they could potentially play a non-conference match against a conference team.

Southwest Ohio has a mini version of this, and they are all in different Conferences. Cincinnati, Xavier and Miami all play one another round robin style, while Dayton and Wright play each other and maybe one or two of the Cincy area schools. Kent and Akron should play Cleveland St and Youngstown every year as well, but don't. A Mac-Horizon mini challenge of sorts.

Nice mix (12) of NC matches for CSUN under coach Price. Looks like a new era for CSUN volleyball in 2022.
