I think not choosing Bergmann was right. Bergmann has good numbers, however, there are times when she goes off. In those moments the team has to hope that Otene, Bertolino but especially Morrisette (and Moss too, some times) can score. JB then on an absolute scale is poor: she will have to work a lot to be really worthy of the Brazilian national team. Imagine what Gabi would do in her place in GT. Given why more is expected of JB, it seems normal to me that she is less considered for these awards, partly because she has not been able to give more to the team. I may be mean and serverous in judgment but from next January for her the bar will be raised.

D'Amico wouldnt start on any top 25 team in the country.

Anyone have numbers for a direct comparison?
Edit: someone posted them as I was typing. Apologies.

According to the ACC article on All Conference awards, Julia, Buzz and Claire were unanimous 1st team players. I think Louisville’s edge over Pitt in these awards is what they were able to do with DeBeer’s absence for most of conference play. Credit to the Cardinals

It’s also made even worse that Louisville dominated the awards already even without Claire and she STILL won it. Louisville wasn’t even the only conference champion. Idk this is wild. Claire had great numbers but I’m still like in shock

I'm a big time Chaussee fan and am thrilled to see she took home the hardware. Objectively there's no question Bergmann does more for her team and I think she's a more skilled player, but I love seeing Claire get rewarded for a brilliant season where she really elevated Louisville with Debeer out and put the team on her back at times to get them another conference title. She also showed up in the big matches and soundly outplayed Bergmann head to head both times.
Not that this should have any bearing on the voters, but Chaussee's story is so awesome. She was told she was too short for Wisconsin and wasn't a top 100 recruit but steadily improved through college, often having to fight for her position on the court as the 4th or 5th option offensively. Louisville steadily improved each season too and entered the national picture. Chaussee got better and better competing against elite competition, and fast forward to this year and she's dominating great teams and blossoms into a 1st Team All American and ACC Player of the Year. Couldn't ask for a better underdog story line.

Woah. I was 100% expecting Julia to get it.
I'm really happy for Chaussee though. She took her game to another level and really stepped up this year.

If I’m a coach voting I give all respect to Julia. But Louisville easily could have fallen apart without DeBeer and they didn’t because Chaussee stepped up and made it work. That’s enough to bypass stats to give her the vote.

I love love love Louisville but giving POY to Chaussee over Bergmann is a joke. Honestly kinda pathetic.
“Hey Julia, you outplayed this girl in almost every facet of the game imaginable, all while carrying your clearly NOT top 25 team to top 25 ranking all year, but we’re gonna give it to her anyways because she was on the co-champ team!”
Not excited for angry lavagirl in austin.

Julia deserved the award IMO, but I think it's a bit much to call Chaussee's selection a "pathetic joke". She had over 4 kps in the ACC and hit over .300 and led her team to a conference win. Bergmann carried her team, but Claire was a fabulous leader and it's not her fault that her team had better supporting pieces.

It’s absurd that Julia didn’t win

The way most of us were debating if Julia would get NPOY or not and they don’t even give her conference POY. I blame D’Amico.
But… even more motivation for Julia B to come back next year… to Texas!🤘

I just can’t believe they gave Louisville literally all but one award when they didn’t even win the title by themselves
