Maybe time for Princeton to have a change in coaching. Looking crappy again and playing a very strange style of volleyball. It's a talented squad with a ton of top recruits...

Idk if I’ve seen a Princeton game…🤔
Who are they returning and what is strange about their style this year?
I get my Ivy’s mixed up, is this Huhman’s Alma mater?

I don't know if I'd call it underperforming. The Ivy schools haven't played ball in a long time because of COVID. They haven't had a chance to build synergy, on the court or during the offseason like these other squads have.
Who has Harvard beat?
The only things I do question is the lineup choices and not utilizing the veterans.
Thompson, Nelsen, Kelly, Dixon, Mrkalj, Posivak should all be on the court together. I'm all for building up freshmen for the future but to leave that many senior players, who have all contributed to the success Princeton has seen over the years, not on the court is senseless to me.
The other thing I question is not utilizing true middles blockers to play that position. If you're shorthanded, okay, I get it. But running OHs in the middle so they can help pass is a terrible move. Princeton's passing hasn't improved and their middle blocker production is almost nonexistent.
But they were close in every set against NJIT yesterday except the 1st set, which they won. They beat a wonky UCSB lineup. They've taken sets off better teams. They're not losing every set with a single digit score.
It's questionable decision making, not a performance issue.

I've seen them play twice in person and once on line, and have to agree that there is WAYYYYYYYYYY too much juggling and experimenting going on to make for consistent play. Players are middles one night, and outsides the next. The MB is playing middle back on defense and hitting biqs. The libero saw the court only three rotations in one match, and then the next match it's traditional libero subbing. A few players had one outstanding match, but never two or three. I just don't see how that style of coaching helps a team, especially after a year off.
I'm fine with him going young, because a big part of what made Kelly such a good setter was having Huhnmann and Luck hitting a heavy ball. I'm not sure which libero to start, because there doesn't seem to be much separation. But he has got to settle on his pins and not have such a whimsical lineup.

Princeton with the win tonight over a scrappy st. Francis team. Maybe the creative lineup helped? I’m curious what people think after watching them win.

You might want to note that it was a scrappy third season program (who just joined the EIVA) St Francis of BROOKLYN team, as opposed to the one that has been in the EIVA for some time.

It definitely looked like that team was just formed. But they have some solid players. Their libero averaged something like 7 digs/set

There are a lot of good reasons to go to Princeton but volleyball does not look like one of them. Their schedule was difficult early but they need to be able to win games in an Eiva that looks weaker than past years. Njit did not even play Meissner and won. St Francis Brooklyn should not be an equal.

Remember when Princeton lost to D2 Daemen?
Again think of where this Princeton team and the PFW team were in Jan and Feb.
Think of Stanford not even having a program ....
What a year.
