That's like asking "What is the best food of the two different kinds of food, cheap food and expensive food?"
The best cheap food is pizza. In a twist, the best expensive food is also pizza.

I realize the question is really broad. I also posted on Facebook and getting a full response. I just know nothing about the market. We do these fun surveys for the paper but I don’t want it to be completely regional.

That's like asking "What is the best food of the two different kinds of food, cheap food and expensive food?" The best cheap food is pizza. In a twist, the best expensive food is also pizza. The best cheap food is the one you get for free and that can be consumed right after being picked without any additional process: fruits, actually. When I was a child I used to steal fruits on trees from my neighbors. (I guess we've all done that right ?) Parents and neighbors were aware of that of course, it didn't mind anyone, even the trees owners, this is how you grow childrens I guess: by being resourceful kids. It takes a whole village to raise a child.
(and that's why vegans will always manage to survive is this cruel world mouhahahaa *sarcastic laugh*)
The best expensive food? there aren't any, I mean... expensive food is the one you get after being heavily processed, or raised, with consequences for the environment, and that's the worst food you can get.

Best inexpensive white wine: for sweet ones, Cadillac Château Haut Rian cuvée les Coulous: fruity (lemon, apricot tastes), sweety, ages just fine by being more amber colored and stronger, best recent year 2015 but every 2 years since 2005 is just fine too + 2014. Cadillac is located 30 Kms south from Bordeaux.
Best expensive white sweet ones I know: Quart de Chaume Grand Cru, Coteaux du Layon 1er Cru Chaume, being produced where I live in Anjou. It's a Bordeaux white sweety kind of... but with extra special taste, Quart de Chaume is really more expensive though cos' being produced in a very small area, only 750 hectoliters/year.
Dry white ones: Riesling, got lucky to taste this one once, and it deserves being sacred best dry white wine in 2019
Red ones, cheap: Bourgogne (Burgundy) Aloxe-Corton or Gevrey-Chambertin, best expensive one: some will say the Petrus without having never tasted one in their life, but I've been fortunate enough to taste an Hospices de Beaune once in my life, it's just unbelievable...it was a Corton, you can purchase some bottles only on auction sales.

To be honest, those are only the ones I know well because already tasted at least once in my life. It would make no sense to talk about wines, or champagnes, or beers you've never tasted.
That being said, being born on the North of France near Belgium (20 kms from Chimay, one of the best Trappist beers) I could go further with beers. "Ch'ti" (North of France inhabitants) like us are born with a beer syringe in their mouth... My grand-mother used to own a jazz-club/bar in Salles in Belgium, on the road to Chimay. That's how she and her son (my uncle) died though: they were alcoholic, sadly. My grand-ma because of diabete, and my uncle a cirrhosis that worsened into a liver cancer.

Well - I've waited three hours in line in downtown Santa Rosa, California for Pliny the Younger at Russian River Brewing. It was fine. But it's really just a hop bomb that is still reasonably drinkable. I've had hop bombs that were so ridiculously bitter and undrinkable. Their location in Windsor is more like wine country and I did that another year. It looks like a farm house winery building in the middle of Sonoma Wine Country. They also have a communal table in the middle that's really nice. Their original location looks like a dive bar.

The Auberge de Poteaupré near Abbey de Scourmont (Chimay principality) looked exactly like this when I was kid, I used to go there on saturdays and/or sundays with all the family and friends. Belgians always party with their kids, it's really a different culture: at Le Clocheton, kind of rural nightclub that closes only from 8 AM to 1 PM, you can see kids sleeping on those long tables on saturday nights hahaha
Drinking a trappist beer is something very special, for many reasons, but this one in particular: nearly 90% of the profits goes to charity. The only 10% rest is enough for monks to make a living.

"It's gonna be a long day..." oh... really ? hahahaha
This guy is courageous: he's tasting ALL the trappist beers after cycling the "Heart Of Belgium" tour.
I know them all, and this guy has a pretty good palate, his descriptions are accurate to me
