From the meet & greet, sounds like Cruz used the same strategy as Lowe in snagging Tomkom.

From the meet & greet, sounds like Cruz used the same strategy as Lowe in snagging Tomkom. If you're a pin looking to bang I don't think Tomkom is the setter you want. If you're an undersized pin or a middle I think you want Tomkom.

MVP Points are crucial if you're literally trying to get 1st place in the whole thing, but if you're a player who is competing to be in the, say Top 3-10 range, then in my opinion, your team's Win Pts are what's gonna keep you in the thick of it. I just remember Kelly Hunter last year. The first week, she didn't even play a single set, but she still got Win Pts from being on the best team that week, and then later went on to be a Captain, and finished Top 10.

I really like the potential offensive power of team McClendon but I really like the balance of Team Cruz. (Or maybe I am just an automatic stan of whichever team that has both Nootsara and Hentz)

She definitely has a bad strategy for herself. Her & Cruz did poorly to set themselves up as the fantasy scorer for their teams. Lowe & McClendon set themselves up better. eh. i think Deja has too many MVP candidates. looking back on last year's score... MVP decided the winner. Larson had way more MVP points than anyone else (Karsta didnt have that many at all). they need to win too. DLC had less win points than Larson. DLC is gonna get a ton of swings with her team though... lots of shanks too lol
On the flip side, Deja finished #6 overall, ahead of 6 players with more stat points. Gibbemeyer finished #9, ahead of 6 players with more stat points, etc. The win points are the biggest overall factor in the score, although it gets more like 50/50 for the players at the top. It's REALLY hard to stay up at the top if you have an 0-3 week though.
MVP points definitely factored in some of the top spots though. King had more Win and Stat points than DLC, but a big edge in MVP points but Betty over King for the #2 spot. Aury's edge in MVP points (and win points) helped get her above Karsta for the #4 spot. MVP points (and stat points) put Ebony above Kelly Hunter for the #7 spot.
(I think a general trend is that hitters will always get more MVP points than setters.)

How bad did Alisha Glass play during the scrimmage? she was fine, there's just better setters at the moment that's not exactly surprising considering she hasn't been playing at a high level for some time

Letâs hear from those sages who said Lichtman would be drafted early. Also, I agree that many of the picks were made to enhance the captainsâ chances for points, not to build a team. Boo. Finally since so much is being made of points, the term is âfewerâ not âless.â

I haven't watched any of the scrimmages, but I like Team Purple a lot just looking at the rosters.

Finally since so much is being made of points, the term is âfewerâ not âless.â I wasn't really one of those people. I still think she'll do well overall. I hope she gets to play a fair amount this week. I kinda wish they were using NCAA substitution rules so that she could play back row for Deja ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)

I agree that many of the picks were made to enhance the captainsâ chances for points, not to build a team. Boo. I prefer that. It makes things much more interesting. It's higher risk, higher reward. This league should be entertaining to watch and watching the league's stars either dominate or completely bomb is just so much fun sometimes.
