The ret-conning of McBride as an elite player is something to behold. She had 3 outstanding matches toward the end of last year, against moderate competition (she hit above .500 in two matches vs Arkansas and one against Auburn), and she had one very good .429 performance against Florida mid-season.
She also hit .167 against Hawaii in the tournament, and in the games prior to her impressive run vs Arkansas and Auburn, she hit -.250 vs UK, .250 vs SC, -.333 vs Ole Miss, -.333 vs TAMU, and .000 vs Tennessee. She had double digit kills exactly one time all year. The modal number of blocks she had all year was zero, and she averaged .41 b/s for the season.
If she figures out how to be a consistent threat like she was against Arkansas and Auburn, she will be tough. But to assume that she is going to produce at anywhere near that level over the course of a season is fanciful, imo.
Not trying to drag McBride at all -- when she was good, she was really good. But to claim that she is part of an elite duo is just fiction, imo.

Can’t say much…I will say that no lineup is a guarantee right now. There is competition in the gym!!! All spots could potentially be up for grabs by either freshmen or super seniors
(All except Gabby Waden because she is Mississippi State Volleyball and if she is not on the court it will cause an extreme uproar in Starkvegas…she’s also just THAT good) 🤣🤣🤣

Mississippi State has it's own thread. Tennessee doesn't anymore, do they? I've been following SEC volleyball since the early 90's. Never thought this day would come. Bizarro world is real. Hail State.

supposedly they were the better team last year too… until they played each other lol. Finghall is great but Tennessee lost quite a bit, no? I’ll have to see what they brought in. But Mississippi State lost nothing but backups and a setter who they replaced with a Penn State transfer. You would know more about Tennessee’s level than I would though, so I’m definitely not trying to discount your thinking.

They lost Breanna Runnels, Ava Bell, Nicole Shanahan and Maddie Bryant. Runnels is a big loss, but I think they will fill it just fine. Bell started and Shanahan subbed in. Laborda looked to get the libero jersey over Bryant. Mahaffey and Finghall were both AVCA All-Americans and they are back. Hayward is back. If they can figure out the MB2 spot they will be just fine. They also got transfer OH Erykah Lovett from LBSU. And a highly regarded freshman class to go along with that.
