I thought they over-performed in the first half of the season so I’m a little surprised by that. Maybe there’s more to that story.

GLP said Antropova will get Italian sports citizenship before the summer.
(so she can play as a local in the league, not for the NT... yet anyways)

(so she can play as a local in the league, not for the NT... yet anyways) GLP is convinced that Antropova can play for the national team soon. As far as we know, A. still has a Russian passport and, as you said, if she wins the CAS appeal, she cannot play for any national team (different sport nationality and citizenship).

And idk what that process is like at all Can she just get it a la Turkey? Or would it need to be a more formal process like the USA?

If Antropova wins her appeal to CAS she gets Italian nationality as her first sporting nationality. This way, as soon as she gets the nationality citizenship, she is eligible for NT. Normally the time to take Italian citizenship is quite long: 10 years for non-EU citizens. However, like any state, there are exceptions for those who have done commendable things, in favor of the country or are needed by the country. If they applied the rules she would have to wait another 5 years or get married and, if she has no children, wait 3 years.

Now of course that raises the question of whether being a pro volleyball player qualifies as doing "commendable things"...

Now of course that raises the question of whether being a pro volleyball player qualifies as doing "commendable things"... It happened in the past for the naturalization of Tai Aguero, who married an Italian. Having already played for a national team (and what a national team!!) after the wedding she had to wait about 2 years or, at least, her first call-up was 2 years later. If Antropova intends to play for the national team, they will find some expedient.

i don't really understand what this means... but volleyball.it sounds salty about something kwt mberlanda It seems that the LVF (Women's Volleyball League) is complaining about the little sponsorship money and the overall budget that is half the size of the men's budget. They are also complaining about different contract conditions with VBW.
