It’s really bad. I have a friend from college that lives in Adana who I just saw over Christmas while I was in Istanbul. There’s been no word from them yet. They’ve suspended everything in the country. And it looks as though the President of the Turkish Volleyball Federation was killed in the earthquake. Very scary times. I’m so sorry, I hope you hear from your friend soon. 🙏🏻💔 Just terrible.

He said they didn’t feel anything, but that everything is at a relative standstill given the situation. Seems like the northern region of the country faired well. I’m going to wait a bit before I try contacting my friends in Adana again.

I’ve seen a couple players from that post that they are all okay. Hoping that’s true still some players from Hatay football team unaccounted for, and i havent heard any updates on their wvb team. Hatay is the worst affected city and theyve barely been able to get much search and rescue in because Adana airport was damaged.

I assume a lot of communication towers will be down and it could be spotty for a while. They live out away from the main part of Adana, so it might be a while before things are restored there.

It seems like Adana is near the fringe of the affected area (just thinking of that makes me realise it couldve been even worse)

But I wouldn't trust my geography in that region at the moment. I know he isn't far from Incirlik Air Base.

Everyone is ok, but really shaken up (no pun intended). WhatsApp and communications seem to be back up and running for now.
