not really off-topic at all. That’s the sole reason why we have so many shortages. Why in the world wouldn’t that be pertinent? The sole reason there's a pending global grain shortage is...lack of oil production? Not that whole war thing in Eastern Europe? Your mind truly works in mysterious ways. Or you're just lost. One of those. Wheat prices were rising before the war even started. I should know that right? What do you think is going to happen when oil doubles in cost? Shipping then doubles or triples in cost. Wheat will most likely be 10 dollars per bushel but the cost of fertlizer and diesel have destroyed the profit of getting 5.00 more per bushel. Food then has to be marked up according to costs and so does fuel. Its all about oil and this President is too stupid to change course when its clearly desperate and necessary. Your party has created a nightmare scenario that will take a drastic change in course to fix. But....the Democrats are full steam ahead on the green deal, the dumbest decision for this moment in time. What amazes me is not only are they stupid so are you people. If you changed course you might just save yourselves but nope.....

Yes we should try to produce as much oil as possible. Russia does that. It has worked out great for their economy and their citizens. If only we could be more like Russia.

Wouldn’t it have made more sense for us to produce not only enough oil for us but also for Europe so they weren’t dependent on Russia. Where is our brains? IThink really hard.

What’s stopping US oil companies from producing more oil? Do you want Biden to Nationalize the oil industry?

They are in the position to make money. Ask them why they’re not producing oil? If you really care about the answer.

Why would anyone NOT be a dick to you. Your the biggest fool any of us has ever talked to and it’s obvious that, once again, you have no idea what you are talking about.

But....the Democrats are full steam ahead on the green deal, the dumbest decision for this moment in time. What amazes me is not only are they stupid so are you people. If you changed course you might just save yourselves but nope..... Oy Vey, this is some low-information Tucker Carlson level sh!t. Listen and learn. The energy market cratered in 2020 due to a drastic reduction in demand, and stayed that way well into 2021. Smaller producers closed up shop, refineries ramped down operations, wells were capped, oil workers quit to find other work...all because of that whole worldwide Covid shut down, you remember that? Gas was cheap because nobody wanted it, all that stuff? Fast forward to 2022, demand is approaching pre-pandemic levels, but the oil industry is still trying to ramp production back up, which isn't the easiest thing to do - there's a shortage of workers and materials, and those 9,000 unused leases U.S. producers have stockpiled take time to develop into working, producing wells (the number of rigs drilling for oil and gas has risen 60% in the past year). Oh yeah, there's also a f**king war happening in Europe, affecting the global energy market (and the food market, which is what this thread is supposed to be about). All that said, U.S. oil production is projected to hit all-time record highs in 2022 and 2023. Oh, and major oil producers in the U.S. and Europe (Shell, BP, ExxonMobil etc.) just announced record profits for the 2022 quarter ending March 31. So tell me again how Joe Biden is destroying the energy market.

Oh, and major oil producers in the U.S. and Europe (Shell, BP, ExxonMobil etc.) just announced record profits for the 2022 quarter ending March 31. So tell me again how Joe Biden is destroying the energy market.I mean - we look at who produces oil and it's frankly tough being in a position to turn it down when there's a commodity market with more or less fungible crude oils. Someone is going to buy it, and in the end it's a worldwide price for similar crude oils. And transportation costs money. There's an incentive to transport it the least distance. It's frankly beyond stupid for anyone to think that Europe would want US crude oil when it would cost so much to transport, on top of US crude being more expensive to pump out of the ground than Saudi or Russian crude. And I remember Trump was so desperate to improve the lot of American oil companies by begging other countries to cut production to increase prices. Followed by begging them to pump more oil when the price was getting too high. Real genius that guy, or perhaps it showed how little power the US President actually has to affect oil prices other than to grovel.
