But then it's too bad they didn't put a single phrase of language in the constitution that can reasonably be interpreted as guaranteeing the right to an abortion.

There was no mention of women in the constitution at all, period. That has already been fixed. Your wish has been granted. The ERA finally passed and is the law of the land, except that Trump used procedure to stall it and more the Republicans are using the filibuster to prevent it from becoming official. Without that obstruction, Alito has no argument. Until it becomes official, all of the rights for women codified into law over the ladt 60 years will be slowly eroded by backwards states and this SCOTUS, as laws are repealed or changed, and the changes are upheld by this court in absence of the ERA. Never before in our history have recognized rights for a particular group been stripped on such a large scale. |

No I'd say that means it's a bad system. But again, a bad system that has, in the past been corrected. The original comment made was about what we then called women, and African Americans not being allowed to vote. Neither of those continue to be the case. Please keep in mind that my comment is not as much about the system being good or bad, as it is that corrections can be made when necessary. I still think that's a good thing. I can see where your eyes are fixed and I'm doubting there's any wiggle room for you on this one. And my point is the system was utterly incapable of ending slavery or granting blacks the franchise. What's more, the structural issues which create that incapability were never addressed and exist to this day. I have no idea what this means. |

I'm always amazed at how much you can get wrong in one sentence. The "police job", as you put it, was already described. Go back and read or go back and watch. She has every right to cover what's happening but that doesn't mean she can be in the middle of what's going on. She thought she could and she was wrong. And don't intentionally use Ableist language. I know you like to, but you could try and curb that. I wouldn't even call her a reporter. She has a podcast. She's an opinionater. Not sure how many actually news reporters are left out there. News Reporters don't try to make themselves the story I assumed she was because I thought I saw her flash a press badge at the police officer. |

My assumption came from seeing her flash something that I thought gave her some sort of official clearance. Regardless of who she was, being in the middle of what the Police were doing made her somebody in the wrong place at the wrong time. I would be very surprised if that officer was reprimanded. |

Agree Some will look at it as he pushed her and that s 'assault' He could have drawn his baton a d really seriously injured her It may seem strange, but that does show restraint It s incredible the boundaries police have to draw when they are under stress and under orders to disperse or control non cooperative crowds swarming with people filming and frankly some trying to 'bait' a response they can capture They need so much training to deal and cope with that responsibility to prevent just a single Floyd type incident that can unfairly brand other coos |
