bic Grome has 1.5 aces/set and 1.5 blocks/set for you this week maybe it’s your time!!! Where is this Grome blocking coming from? she did this last week and I was just so confused based on her season averages.

bic Grome has 1.5 aces/set and 1.5 blocks/set for you this week maybe it’s your time!!! Losing aces just because of Grome would be horrible given that: - TTA, Blackwell, Matthews, and Perkins don't serve - Dotson doesn't even have a match this week

Her freshman blocking numbers were as good as Lilley's ever were, IIRC.
Based on Arkansas and Ole Miss matches, I think it's a combo of: 1) UK serving has been getting tougher (see Grome not only serving in but getting aces!) forcing teams to go OOS to the LS 2) Bell and Tealer have been EXCELLENT at closing the block. Bell and Tealer also had 7 and 6 blocks respectively.
it could just be random or luck though ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Welp... kind of assumed SEC doesn't ever have a bye week so I played Fischer. One player down already... Some teams do, which is beyond stupid given how big that conference is. Right, weeks with three matches, then weeks with none. Does not really make sense.

Frankly, I think matches with high blocks is more a function of luck and poor offensive strategies by the opposing teams rather than the skill of the blockers. I mean, if you get a team whose strategy is to just rip it low seam, you are going to get a lot of opportunities at blocks. If you face a team that has poor block coverage, you are going to get a lot of opportunities at blocks. There is a big difference between a good block read (skill of the blocker) and the opposing team making a mistake. Plenty of teams have middles that can close a block when an opposing team is out of system, however if the opposing hitter avoids the block (it's not difficult), either hit a shot cross court right to the libero, go deep over the block or play a tip, it doesn't really matter how good those blockers were, they aren't going to get a block.

What’s funny is both of the teams in the gold medal match went to the tie break and won a deuce set in the QF
