13 Cameron Baklenko L/DS 5-10 Jr.
14 Kenadie Patterson MB 6-5 Fr.
15 Kate Kilroy S 5-8 So.
16 Trinity Stanger L/DS 5-6 So.
17 Avery Shimaitis OH 6-0 Fr.
18 Rachel Ahrens OH 6-4 Gr.
19 Riley Patterson L/DS 5-7 Gr.
20 Vanessa Polk MB 6-2 Fr.
Roster returns a lot of talent from last year. Ahrens, Zelaya, Brown, and Chillingworth are poised to be the mainstays on this team.
Will be interesting to see who the third pin hitter is. My guess it i'll be between Ammerman and Hellmuth who was a highly touted recruit from this year's class.
Hames is now listed as a libero after playing outside sporadically the last few years. Either her or Stanger, who got a lot of playing time last year as a DS, will win the job but both will probably play regularly.
And with Ballo graduating and Goeke transferring out, that MB2 spot looks like it'll go to either of two first-year players: Patterson or Polk.
My prediction: The Waves are a bit of a sleeper team this year and compete closely with BYU and USD for the WCC title. They also are on the bubble of being a top 16 seed come tournament time.
Also does anyone have any news on incoming recruiting classes?

Hellmuth's approach and arm swing need some tuning. She does have good size however.

Love the tough non con schedule - will be interesting to see how they respond and if it prepares them for USD/ BYU opening week in WCC

As a fan of WCC volleyball - I love to see Pepperdine on the rise. They look to be setup for a great next 4 years. I believe they could have the parts to make a good run this year, along with the very strong teams in USD and BYU. LMU looks to have some good upside this year as well. Maybe we need a WCC 2022 thread....

As a fan of WCC volleyball - I love to see Pepperdine on the rise. They look to be setup for a great next 4 years. I believe they could have the parts to make a good run this year, along with the very strong teams in USD and BYU. LMU looks to have some good upside this year as well. Maybe we need a WCC 2022 thread.... There usually is a WCC thread. I'm not sure if bayarea is planning to make a 2022 one, but that's who has created them in the past. |
