Terrible ball handling by BYU. Bump set over on two gives USF a free ball and they put it away to close within two, 20-18

Claire Crijns is having another terrific match for San Francisco. She's at .360 with 14 kills right now, the second most in the match. Ayub has 6 kills hitting .667 (6-0-9). She's been money tonight on dumps.
Livingston has 17 kills on a .364 clip or BYU. She's been set 33 times, twice as much as anyone else. Gneiting has been set 16 times, Prior 13. Gneiting is finally hitting in the positive at .250.

BYU responds after the TO to take a 12-8 lead with a Prior RS kill. Time for a USF TO.
Prior is doing a nice job, but I wouldn't say she looks really confortable hitting on the right side. But she has a nice high contact point and is able to attack the block fairly well even if I'm not sure she's doing it on purpose.

BYU is up 12-9 in the fourth.
Livingston has 19 kills at .333 for BYU and Crijns has 18 kills at .270 for USF. No other players in double digit kills.

Pekova hits a poor set in the net. BYU 20-15 Petkova inside the block. BYU 20-16 Llarenas kill. BYU 21-16 Crijns backrow attack blocked. BYU 22-16 Gneiting kill. BYU 23-16 Prior/Gneiting block on Petkova LS attack. BYU 24-16. Match point. Prior RS kill off Crijns platform and out of reach. BYU 25-16. BYU wins 3-1
It's nice to be wrong. I really did not like the way BYU looked in set one. Wasn't sure they had it in them. USF can be just like a bulldog, never letting go.

An interesting match for Gneiting. She was hitting negative in the middle of the second set but ended up hitting .333 for the match with 11 kills, the second most on the team. Livingston led the way with 21 hitting .289 (21-8-45). Prior led in hitting percentage .368 (10-3-19). I think this may be the first match that BYU's opposite has reached double digits this season. Clair Crijns hit .231 (18-9-39). Both she and Livingston cooled off a bit in the 4th set. I expect both were tired with 39 and 45 sets respectively. Crijns needed more help than she got in this match. Petkova has been quite good lately, but was just so-so tonight hitting .185 (10-5-27). Ayub had the 3rd most kills with 6. Not enough production from the rest of the team.

right now USD needs all the help they can get with ranked wins at the end of the season to hopefully host a regional in the tourney. NCAA committee ranked them 5th (they dropped) even though they haven't lost since the last ranking was released. what a crappy way to punish a team that's done everything they're supposed to do just because of the conference they play in. anyways, we're now looking at hoping that teams above them lose and not having any wiggle room to drop matches if we want WCC representation in the top 4. more ranked wins help USD, so i'm hoping that BYU, Pepperdine and LMU can hang in there.
