Yes, we'll have to allow conference tournament games since there won't be as many regular-season matches to pick from. I just looked up the Conference USA, Sun Belt and WAC conference tournament schedules, but all of them say TBA. Are any conference tournament matches set? If so, what is/are the links for their schedules? Obviously they cannot be picked in the week 13 contest if they have not been specified and announced before the November 14, 6PM CT, correct? Correct. We’ll only be able to use conference matches that have been announced by Monday at 6pm CT.

For conferences with byes, can we simply pick the winning team and the date, even if the opponent is TBD based on a previous match? For example, I think we should be able to pick Troy vs TBD on 11/18. Right?

Not sure what this is about, but if it’s for the TBD matches, here’s my thought - You’re still picking a winner. Since this year, we aren’t only selecting a team to lose once, whoever that winner plays seems irrelevant. You just take the gamble of the unknown opponent. If we change this next season, then we wouldn’t be able to select matches with byes unless all potential opponents haven’t been picked as losers before. Edit: if you’re referring to when I said only conference matches that have been set can be used, I was thinking about matches that say TBD v TBD. If the majority of people only want to allow conference matches that have the opponents listed out already, I’m ok with that too. gbuttah jaypak mnsports255 n00b publius - thoughts?

I agree this makes the most sense. So we won't be able to use the opening round of the MAC or Missouri Valley tournaments (they have regular season matches Wednesday and their tourney starts Sunday). But when the goal is to pick winners, I don't see any reason to not be allowed to pick a winning team and the date that they're definitely playing. You obviously couldn't pick a team to win a match they may or may not play, but that's very different than simply not knowing the opponent yet.

As long as winner and date are specified, I would allow the pick.

vballfan17, sorry to see you are no longer in the running. I have never been a fan of letting the inmates decide how to run the prison. As previously mentioned, it's your contest, and you can make up new rules if and whenever you want. From day one, the cardinal rule has been "Every week, you pick [3] matchups between any two teams and choose the winner of each match." I don't recall it being allowable in early pre-conference tourneys to pick the named tourney host to win a match against the unnamed to-be-determined winner of a match to be played the day before. It really doesn't matter anyway since jaypak, n00b and I can simply skip entering weeks 13 and 14 and since we have no misses after 14 weeks we are automatically in the so-called tiebreaker, right?

If you have such a negative attitude towards this contest, why do you keep participating? For the zillionth time, it’s the first year of this so there will be kinks to work out and we won’t know what they are until we come across them. In regards to the tiebreaker, what I have decided to do is this:Winning team picks reset for the NCAA tourney. (1) Select 8 of the 32 1st-round matches (when set) and pick a winner. If you survive, move on to #2. (2) Select 2 of the 8 Sweet 16 matches (when set) and pick a winner. You cannot use a team that was picked in tiebreaker #1. If you survive, move to #3. (3) Select 1 of the 4 Elite 8 matches (when set) and pick a winner. You cannot use a team that was picked in tiebreakers #1 or #2. If you survive, move on to #4. (4) Select 1 of the 2 Final 4 matches (when set) and pick a winner. You cannot use any team previously picked in tiebreakers. If you survive, move on to #5. (5) Choose the total combined points score for the championship match. Whoever is closest, wins. If there is a tie, the award will be shared. Therefore, for the tiebreakers, you’d be picking a total of 12 winners, but none can be the same. If you have no options of teams left to pick, you will be eliminated. If the last standing are eliminated in the same tiebreaker, the person who misses the smallest percentage of picks in the tiebreaker will win. If multiple people miss the same percentage of picks, they will continue on to the next tiebreaker as the decider. Note: if you skip weeks before the tiebreaker, you will have to increase your 1st round picks by 4 for each week missed leading up to the tiebreaker (i.e. if you miss week 14, you’ll have to choose 12/32 first round matches and pick correctly). Hope that is sufficient for everyone. FYI gbuttah jaypak mnsports255 n00b publius

I’m not even close to sold on Kentucky in general… conference tournament week means super limited picks to choose from AND I had 20 to make this week smh. This might very well be the week I go.
