Creighton escapes! KBB is (rightfully) irate. “Escape” is the right word as Creighton is repeatedly hosed on touch/no touch calls, then sees a critical point overturned on a replay that was far from indisputable, yet to Creighton’s credit they maintain composure and quiet the crowd by pulling out S3, 30-28. |

BTW, Wichita State 3-2 Iowa State (21), 21, (25), 23, 10 A fine showing by the Shockers this weekend. Probably Chris Lamb’s best squad since the storied 2017 group that won 21 straight matches. For sure, this year’s Wichita St and Wyoming teams are better than their predecessors that Creighton saw last season at The Shocker Classic. |

Creighton wins 3-1! time to hightail out of there Absolutely! Creighton showed mental toughness tonight. Make no mistake, the Jays were on the ropes twice tonight. They were punched in the face out of the gate and got clobbered in S1, with Sis stuck in back. Sis and Davis righted in the ship in S2. Then in S3, the Jays had everything against them - the crowd, refs, altitude, and momentum, yet managed to calm themselves enough to make the biggest plays of the match. In S4 they capitalized on the huge momentum swing, got their bedraggled block going, and went for it on serves to cruise to the finish. Wyoming began to unravel where Creighton had not. R2 will not be getting any Christmas cards from KBB. Fun tournament - Creighton was better than the field by a small margin. After that it was quite even. Each team was tested, each team had its moments and will grow from the experience. |
