Maybe they could look at hiring Jolene Stephenson; she prefers to start her new jobs by wiping out the entire existing roster where she lands, anyway.. 90% of the work would be done for her!

In all seriousness, will Washington state even be able to field a team next year? I was worried even without these transfers but like now? do they even have time to field a team? Tbh it prob wouldn’t be too hard picking up the best they can find out of all the “lower tier school” players in the transfer portal but a coaching staff and some major urgency is needed asap because if I was an opposing school scheduling games, I wouldn’t even respond to their email at this point 😰 A coaching staff definitely being critical to this. Let’s hope for the best.

But she said she's leaving it better than she found it - is that really the case? I mean sure, the history the recent past seasons, yes. But in terms of recruits? She's also (obviously) taking her husband with her which is another coach gone. At least she still inherited Meagan Ganzer, the next coach might not inherit even a team of 6.... I'm so sad Ganzer wasn't able to play with the Coug-level teams that she had these past few seasons.

She is doing what is best for her, her family, and her career. We don’t know what’s going on behind the scenes at WSU, but can theorize it’s not great from this move. Too much uncertainty. Leaving it better than she found it is rather subjective. They have name value now. They’ve had success. International recruits know about it. What happens next is out of her control, but the infrastructure is there, in theory.

But, did they just stop recruiting? They graduated 7 players and didn't have a single recruit lined up to replace - that's like 2 years of inaction.

I have no clue about their recruiting strategy or lack there of.

Looks like WSU's assistant coach has been hired as Nevada's head coach. So no longterm previous coaching staff left at WSU.

Katy Ryan right now might be time for her to join the portal soon too... She’s a non-COVID junior with one year of eligibility. Might be an awkward time to transfer for academics/to actually get a degree.

Asst coach elevated. Now let's see how many players stay and how much he can rebuild with no committs. He does have history as a recruiting coordinator so that bodes well for them.
What his bio partially says, "Korey Schroeder joined the Washington State women's volleyball staff as an assistant coach in the Spring of 2023, and was named the program's 13th head coach in program history in January of 2024. Schreoder made the move The Palouse after being a part of three 20-win seasons over the past five years as a women's volleyball associate head coach/ recruiting coordinator at the University of Wisconsin - Green Bay.
This past season, Schroeder served as the Cougars' assistant coach, having a hand in one of the best years in program history. The Cougars went 26-8, reached the Round of 16 of the NCAA Championship, posted seven Top-25 wins, and reached a ranking of No. 4 before concluding the season ranked No. 11 nationally. During the 2023 season, in addition to coaching, Schroeder organized recruiting databases and created recruiting content, ran statistical analyses of WSU and future opponents to maximize match planning, and implemented the use of NeuroFuel for improved mental performance during practice and competitions.
Prior to his move to the Pacific Northwest, Schroeder's time in Green Bay began with a Horizon League Championship in 2018 and the ensuing automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament, the program's first tournament appearance since 2003. His five-year stint with Green Bay culminated last season with the program's highest win total (23) since 2003."
