If OSU was 3-0 right now y'all would be bandwagoning so hard. JFO national coach of the year!!!! Trust the process. But they aren’t… and haven’t honestly shown me that they had any ability to win those three matches. It’s why this type of scheduling is a fools errand. It’s what teams that know they are gonna trounce their conference do to try and sneak into the at-large bid discussion. When you are in a conference like the B1G, and you come into conference play something like 5-6 games bow .500, you’ve given your teams a mountain to climb and completely pissed away your chance to get a seed and host. I’m glad we aren’t just playing a Penn St sub-regional schedule, but this is such a major overcorrection and it is firmly biting them in the a**

They have a very good setter, a very good middle blocker, a very good right side attack, a good libero, and a thoroughly mediocre pair of left side attackers. Which Ohio State fans have lamented plenty already. They are a good team with a glaring weakness. They're not able to close out sets when they have the lead. They're not able to come from behind. It's a problem. Getting those 21+ points is terrific, but it doesn't do them any good to lead the nation in 20+ points scored in sets they've lost.

Yes, my point is more: if they can come this close against some of the best teams in the country, I think there's a lot to be gained by finding out that you are "right there with em". Incidentally, the left side attack is what matters the most against elite teams, so I'd rather they spend some time seeing just how hard it's gonna be to score than going OTT of Abilene Christian and Prairie View A&M's blockers. Imagine having three weeks of that and then going into the B1G. No thanks. That said: I would not personally have scheduled this hard , but, it issss what it isssss.

But at some point the record matters. You have to be .500 to make the tournament. And it doesn’t matter how “good” those losses are. You balance your schedule so you have a few matches against elite competition to do as you said while also getting some confidence building matches against teams you know you are better then (also so that you can test your depth… heaven forbid we get an injury and we will have to throw out completely untested players)

idk yall to me tOSU has never been a good team... just mediocre, they don't have the depth in any position other than Rylee Radar and even then Londot is not enough of a star player to carry them... As to how they got a top 10 pre season ranking is beyond me.

I personally thought OSU was a bit overhyped coming in, but I was excited to see what they could do. I understand OSU returned everyone so they would be theoretically better than last year, but... they also got swept in the sweet 16 by a team whose best player had an awful night. So what exactly was their bar? If they had gotten an elite OH from the portal, OK - we can talk top 10. But the weakness of this team is a GLARING weakness at this level of this game and I'm not sure you recover that much just by gaining another year of experience.
that said-- I think they've looked good. I think they will beat a lot of teams this year with the players they're putting on the floor. I personally think they'll go 1-5 to start the season, but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ it's the risk ya take.

After watching them at B1G media days if I was JFO, I'd go in the locker room after today and go "Well, you asked me for a tougher schedule. I got ya one. Now it's time for you to live up to your end of the bargain."
