I will have a preview of this up on azdesertswarm.com later today. One of the interviews had to be rescheduled for this morning, so I couldn't get the preview done yesterday.
I did talk to Rubio yesterday about Arizona’s SOS/RPI. I will address that in the preview. It's definitely a concern.
I will be at all of the Arizona matches and hope to be at some of the non-Arizona matches, as well. Will see how my time goes.

TAMU-CC played Arizona close in the first two sets, but Arizona is playing a ton of reserves. I don't believe Emery Herman set at all in S2. Ana Heath and Ava Tortorello were both out there. Madison Ellman had the libero jersey on. I didn't see Hodge, although both Maldonado Diaz and Stubbe played some. All of the starters are back to begin S3, though Here's the preview this week. It's more a feature on Jaelyn Hodge, but it has some discussion of the RPI/SOS situation. It's the first time I have gotten to speak with Jaelyn this season.

AZ played an up and down match, but very scrappy, and got the 3-1 win over UTEP. Maldonaldo Diaz lead with 16 kills, and Fellows had 10 blocks.

My god. Dave Rubio is really the all-time queen of hosting these invitationals to bring in fluff patsies from the dregs of D1.

I don't mean to upset anyone but why does Dave still have this job? When was the last time he had a really good season? I remember they were pretty good with Madi Kingdon, but they are many years removed from the Kim Glass era.

I will be at all of the Arizona matches and hope to be at some of the non-Arizona matches, as well. Will see how my time goes. For as long as I can remember noticing this type of thing, Arizona seems to perennially play the wimpiest nonconference schedule. It's almost embarrassing. Back when the Pac-10 / Pac-12 reigned supreme, one could maybe excuse it, since there'd be plenty of chances to score quality wins in conference play. News flash Dave: Those days are long gone. Quit living in the 90s.

Here's the recap of both of Arizona’s Friday matches www.azdesertswarm.com/volleyball/2022/9/16/23357545/arizona-wildcats-volleyball-tamu-corpus-christi-utep-wildcat-classicAnd, yes, Arizona schedules too easy in the nonconference and has for years. Last year was a little better because they went to Texas but that was an accident. They were supposed to go to Texas State and Rubio pulled out of that one because he did not like the match times. The thing is that despite a tough trip they played great against Texas. Lost in 4,but it was a really good showing. They had a quick turnaround and lost to Notre Dame in 5 the following day, but I enjoyed watching it. One correction, though. Arizona hosts 2 tournaments not 3. They always host 2 and travel to 2.
