WSU was getting it together, but couldn't keep the momentum. 27 hitting errors did them in. Minn played pretty strong for most of the match. Landfair, Booth, and Wucherer are a powerful lineup. How ya going to win, WSU, against Minn if you don't tip? Minn actually covered the few tips that there were. Must have demoralized WSU.

Minnesota finally got McKenna Wucherer playing! Been waiting for her, another Freshman in the running for National FOY! Looks like she put up big time numbers tonight!

Wucherer giving me Logan Tom vibes, she is going to be fun to watch! Those sharp cross court angles inside the three meter line are ridiculous!

I was at the match and I don't know how much of this would have been seen on the broadcast, but I don't think I've ever seen Hugh as animated with the refs as he was after a "non-call" on a clear throw by a WSU player in the 4th set--I was afraid he was going to get a red card (although I also think the refs knew that they had blown it and didn't card him). I don't think he would have been as hot under the collar as he was if we hadn't gotten called on one earlier in the match. As he should, I’m all for calling those throws but you have to call them consistently then. Same with doubles. I think you’re right that the refs knew they messed that one up

Thank goodness… they covered them pretty damn well too, even the setter dumps were picked up easily

I would've personally aimed for Pedro I.. That was scary. Full body weight on top of her. Yes to Pedro.

Gophers needed that. No easing into the conference season with Purdue and Wisconsin first up. Would be happy with a split this week, but could see 2-0, or 0-2. Who knows.

Throwing the ball is an abomination to the game, and needs to be harshly brought down.

I forgot Shea was at WSU. Too bad she’s out if that’s the case. Torn ACL, MCL, and meniscus. Ow. Damn. Known as the "triad". Very difficult to come back from. Truly, I wish her all the best and hope she makes a full recovery!

Agreed. And it seems that nothing short of the top coaches in the game chewing the refs out is going to change the trajectory we're on. In three seasons, you'll see players grabbing the set out of the air and throwing it back down with two hands at this rate.

Cannot comprehend the man knows to pronounce "Wucherer" as "Wooker" but can't figure out "Landfair"... almost like he doesn't care enough to try. It could have been a student at the U. I'm making that up, I have no idea, but these BTN+ (sorry, now it's B1G+ ) productions I do think they use students to try to keep the costs down (and give them some experience).
If you've not done it before, give it a shot before you knock it!

If you've not done it before, give it a shot before you knock it! Why does it matter who he is or where he comes from? If he can learn to say Wucherer, he can learn to say Landfair. I was extremely happy to see Hugh as involved as he was last night during the match and with his assistants. The team's energy was up and they responded as such. Thank you Hugh.....please keep it up!
We all know there are lots of things to work on, but a really nice game to start building upon for conference beginning next week at Purdue. I for one am very happy for this team's overall performance last night and hoping for many many more to come.
McWu is THE REAL DEAL!!!

I meant you must be a big fan of Logan Tom given your profile name so coming from you must be pretty accurate. Very much so on the offensive spectrum! Elia Rubin of Stanford is another but she also plays all the way around. But I said before, McKenna Wucherer is going to be a star and Minnesota got a good one in her!
