Just looking at stats, would appear to be pretty solid win. Hoffman very strong. Wilmes in for Bush in set 3 (at OH2?) and did nicely. My question is whether Cook saw something from Houghton, Morin, and/or Wilmes that might change his thinking going forward. Or whether switching Bush and Endsley on the pins (assuming that even happened) changes his thinking.

My question is whether Cook saw something from Houghton, Morin, and/or Wilmes that might change his thinking going forward. Or whether switching Bush and Endsley on the pins (assuming that even happened) changes his thinking. Morin, Wilmes, and Houghton (as L) all had passing attempts in the stats, so hopefully this means Cook thinks they have potential to help in serve receive. We could really use another reliable passer to avoid the 2-person serve receive against strong serving teams. I didn't see the game, so no idea on the quality of the reception attempts. It would be interesting to see if Morin can develop quickly enough to be the back-up Libero option and earn more court time as a passing DS. Houghton seems to be a good defender and knows the system, but hasn't been used in the passing rotation in past years. Wilmes put up some good numbers today against lower rated competition, so hard to say if she would be as terminal hitting against a Pepperdine et al. She did show some all-around potential with digs, aces, and a block assist. I think it does say something about her potential that Cook had Wilmes play 6 rotations but continued to pull Endsely and Bush for DS in the backrow. Cook continued with the end of the Cal Poly match change to keep Bush on the Left and Endsley in the rotation opposite of EMP and hitting mostly on the right side. I think this has some merit. I like the potential Bush has as an out of system hitter on the left due to her jumping ability. In the MT St. match Claire did 1 rotation with EMP in the front row and Bush (and then Wilmes in set 3) did 2 rotations with EMP in the front row. Does that put Bush/Wilmes in the OH1 slot or OH2? Never got that one.

Never got that one. From another thread: "the L1 is placed behind the setter one rotation in a traditional 5-1 so that this hitter is in the front with the setter for 2 rotations."

Good day for Washington, and, yeah, the Pepperdine loss looks a lot better now, right, as does the one at Arkansas (with the win being a clear quality win)? I realize the Huskies may not be where their fans want them to be now, but, objectively, the Huskies are looking better than their fans may have thought a week ago, right?

Any more news about Bays and Crenshaw?
I also like the fact that Morin and Griffin are getting more reps -- we could definitely use more depth on serve receive and in the back row, not to mention serving. I'm not sure that two-person serve receive has been a clear weakness to date. But I am sure Cook & Co. are tracking it carefully.
And thanks for the additional info on Bush and Endsley. In this Husky offense, it seems clear that the left side hitters are going to get more sets than the right side. So whoever your second strongest left side hitter is (behind Hoffman) should get the nod on that side.
