Not that HPU is an indication of being able to do it against anyone, but ultimately, will some of these lineups become more standard?
Parra played a great match. Skinner looked TOTALLY different on the Right. She was an OOS option (moreso than Molly). As much as I love MGG, I wonder if this is a better option?
Also, love the TEAM mentality that's here. Love that even Logan, who didn't have the best night, gets some time on the bench.
Intriguing possibilities: - Molly playing a MB or 2nd Opp for a 6-2 - Devin being first up at OH (for Parra) - What about the DS? 6-2 limits the DS role, but our three are great!!! - Who's the MB2? Caffey seems a tad more error-prone. Bergmark (while super great tonight) isn't necessarily as terminal.
So what's the best? How quickly do you change?
We're through the non-con, but there's so many questions. But, what a privilege that these are the questions we have!

It’ll be interesting to see who starts in the Kansas match. JE typically decides on a set line-up once conference games begin and develops it until tourney time. But this season, it seems like players’ leashes will be short if they are not performing well since the bench is so deep.
Passing hasn’t been as strong as it has been in previous matches and it’s affecting SKT’s setting…I’m thinking with a set line-up that will improve though.

Also like the fact that JE went with a different lineup just bc there’s so many people that don’t like it💀 He seems to piss everyone off regardless of what he does.

Might as well try Molly in the middle and see how she produces. Akana will sub in with better offensive teams. Yes but then if you move Molly to MB then the same situation happens again. What about Bergmark and Caffey? Lol. It’s a great problem to have and I’m interested to see what JE does. I wanna see him roll up a different line up whenever he wants, it’s panic preparing to play against them

I'm glad you're choosing to be part of the community. Outside of me, we have some really terrific fans. It's so much more fun to follow the program with so many passionate fans with whom to follow it together. That nelleynel guy is pure trouble, though. Pure. Trouble.

Two of the most critical moves for the season to get the results we all want have happened the last couple of matches.
One, is the success of Parra moving into a more important role on the pin.
Two, is Skinner's extraordinary success tonight after struggling in the first set against UH.
First, it's very important for people who are primarily on the bench to see another player primarily on the bench "earn" her way into a more prominent role, and be rewarded for productivity. It reinforces there is a path for more playing time. It's one thing to say it, but it's all lip service unless someone actually does it. If what we say aligns with what we do, it creates a natural trust in others that we do what we say, and say what we do. If our actions and our words are misaligned, people will trust what we do over what we say, it doesn't matter how pure our intentions are, or what we ourselves believe internally.
Second, when any of us struggle, specifically when we struggle as part of a team or organization, it's critical for the health of the organization as a whole as well as for individuals to feel like there's a redemptive path available. It's very easy for someone in Skinner's situation to mope or feel sorry for ourselves that we didn't perform well, or we weren't given more of a chance, or that someone has been moved ahead of us in ways we hadn't prepared ourselves for emotionally. There's an inherent level of rejection involved. The healthiest reaction for any of us, and more particularly for the organization as a whole, is for someone in that situation to roll up their sleeves, not get angry or bitter, and resolve they'll do better when given the opportunity.
The fact that Skinner's opportunity came in the next match is icing. But it sends a clear message to the entire team that if you struggle, even if you're pulled, you'll get chances to get back in the arena, so prepare yourself mentally for that possibility.
There is no way to keep everyone 100% happy when there are limited roles/playing time available, and too many options to choose from. Feelings of rejection, self doubt, and doubts about leadership are part and parcel with the inherent dynamics in these situations. But just because they naturally exist, doesn't mean they have to be predominant, or even anything more than negligible. The healthiest way to address this is a message of meritocracy and fairness. You eat what you kill. Production and winning matters over everything else. We're all here for something bigger than any one individual, so suppress your selfish desires and expectations, no matter how natural those desires and expectations would be for any normal human being, for the collective good, and revel in the successes of the group as a whole.
What has happened with Parra and Skinner these last two matches reinforces that message a thousand times more effectively than any locker room speeches could, and it will pay huge dividends for the rest of the season. This sounds awfully melodramatic, but Skinner's struggles against UH in the first set, and the resulting actions coming out of it, may very well have been a watershed moment for the season for this team.

It makes total sense. The goal is to win. Whomever does the most to ensure that will start. Everyone in the Texas program wants them to click at the highest level from now until late December. Unless something really nuts happens, Texas will host a regional.

I’m personally happy that even with the type of roster Texas has, JE hasn’t resorted to using the 6-2. I’m not a fan of a 6-2 at all and am in favor of letting this talented roster battle it out in practice and earn their spots!
Sounds like Parra’s gotta be in there though and I’m not surprised to see that Skinner was comfy on the right.
Though no matter how you slice and dice the line up, Texas is scary good.
