This type of conference success for Drake is unprecedented, right? I don't ever recall them sitting 9+ games over.500. Their freshman setter seems to be doing a solid job. Less to do with their setter and more to do with how good their pins are. Doesn’t matter who is setting Haley bush or their lefty RS they are going to get kills. Agree these hitters are the real deal but why throw shade at the setter, especially a freshman. I watched their match from saturday and was very impressed with her. She better'd a lot of balls and put her hitters in good positions. I am happy to see Drake having a good season. |

one match to go for each team and then the conference tournament for the top 8.
Here's how they stand:
1. UNI 17-0. Panthers have clinched the regular season championship and #1 seed for the MVC tournament. UNI has won 17 matches in a row and 23 of their last 24. They're the only conference team that could possible make it into the at-large bubble for the NCAA tournament with an RPI currently in the 40s and a win over Iowa State, with no terrible losses. Their remaining match is at Drake.
2. Drake 15-2. Bulldogs have clinched the #2 seed in the conference tournament, and have won 10 consecutive matches, only losing 2 sets in that stretch. Their remaining match is hosting UNI.
3. UIC 12-5. Flames have clinched the #3 seed in the conference tournament. Their remaining match is at Valparaiso.
t4. SIU 10-7. Salukis' remaining match is at Missouri State.
t4. Evansville 10-7. Aces' remaining match is hosting Indiana State. Evansville will also be the host site for the conference tournament (which is determined prior to the start of the season).
6. Valparaiso 9-8. Beacons' remaining match is hosting UIC.
SIU, UE, and Valpo will make up seeds 4-6 for the conference tournament, with the seeding being determined by the final matches.
7. Murray State 7-10. Racers' remaining match is at Belmont. MSU has secured a spot in the MVC tourney, most likely the 7 seed, but possibly falling to 8
8. Missouri State 6-11. Bears' remaining match is hosting SIU. A win secures MSU the last spot in the tourney; 7 seed if Murray loses, otherwise 8 seed. A Bear loss opens the door to Bradley taking the last spot should they win at rival Illinois State.
t9. Bradley 5-12. Braves' remaining match is at Illinois State. A win and an MSU loss gets them into the tournament.
t9. Illinois State 5-12. The Redbirds were the preseason favorite to win the conference after having won the previous 3 conference tournaments. But a slew of injuries (and a coaching change in the offseason) derailed their season. Their remaining match is hosting Bradley, but the best they could do is tie MSU for 8th in the standings and the Bears hold the tiebreak, so ISU is out of tournament contention.
11. Belmont 4-13. The Bruins are out of tournament contention, and host Murray State in their final match.
12. Indiana State 2-15. It hasn't been the Sycamores' year. They finish the season at Evansville.
