LoLoL, not even 3 years out of college, no collegiate coaching experience, now a D1 assistant. I've been doing it wrong this whole time.

St Francis Brooklyn dropping athletics is old news and is not the discussion at hand. He was announced as HC at Long Island, but now LIU Instagram posts and Press release on LIU web site have been removed. Why? When was he announced? I haven’t seen or heard anything about that.

The Instagram posts on the previous VT page that can no longer been were copies of LIU Instagram posts announcing him as HC. I read, but did not post, the article on LIU athletics page. That article has been removed as well. That is why you have not seen anything...

How would you suggest someone gain college coaching experience without getting a college coaching experience? GA or VAC would be a more traditional route -- nothing against this hire, I am sure she had great references and interviewed well. I think it is interesting that schools value former athletes over experienced coaches (no idea what the applicant pool looked like, but I am sure there were some others with collegiate experience, maybe at a different level)

Volunteers (unless you're at a P5 program) don't get paid. People aren't exactly beating down the door to work cheap in Spartanburg, SC. Young inexperienced people getting starter jobs is the way of the coaching world.

She has decided to step down and pursue a new job that is more family friendly than coaching d1 Vb.

Just happened to run into someone who knows Mercer Athletics, and I asked if they knew why Dex left. They said he felt a tremendous lack of support, so he bounced.
