Minnesota or Vandy? Which would you pick? Two very different roles at opposite ends of the spectrum IMO. 1. Minny is a role that deserves a proven professional and winner that can hit the ground running. The goal is to step in and not skip a beat to keep the recruiting and winning rolling. 2. Vandy is role that needs to be built from the ground up. Recruiting and building a team culture here is paramount, especially at a high academic instituion. Some coaches will not have the patients to build something from scratch. It will certainly take some time and there will be a longer runway to success. IMO opinion this coach should be a highly regarded younger coach who has a reputation to build trust and someone who can build a culture that a team can buy into quickly. Two very different hires IMO. The Minny role would clearly be amazing and an instant winner, but if I had to choose one, Vandy all day long! One of the best cities in the nation, ripe region to recruit from, P5 conference , you get to leave a legacy by building a program the list goes on and on.

Brewton-Parker College (NAIA, GA) has posted for head coach. Strict Baptist school From the posting.... The successful candidate will have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and the ability to successfully disciple student athletes. The successful applicant will also sign a “Lifestyle Standard Agreement”. ncaamarket.ncaa.org/jobs/17634601/head-women-s-volleyball-coach-full-time#expandNothing wrong with those standards, just throwing it out there in case someone is interested.

The team has had 2 or 3 combined conference wins in the past 10 years. Not sure if they cannot recruit well or if the other teams are just that much better. Definitely need to hire someone who is confident and knows how to create a winning culture. Losing every year is extremely difficult to deal with. Hard to have a positive outlook when you are getting blanked every season.

Again, nothing wrong with the religious standards required of coach and students and student-athletes, but that probably limits the coaching candidate and athlete pools too.

One of the best cities in the nation, ripe region to recruit from, P5 conference , you get to leave a legacy by building a program the list goes on and on. Minnesota has a level of expectation that is very high. The athletic department is well versed in the sport of volleyball after many years of success with Hebert and McCutcheon, so they know what it takes and what is possible. Whoever steps in won't be dealing with the COVID transfers but the impact of the transfer portal is still playing a large role, those who had to bide their times on the bench as the COVID transfers played will be eager to look for opportunities or make their time left productive. Vandy has no history with volleyball, a completely blank slate, for everyone. From the administrators to the facilities people. From the local boosters to the student body. All bets are off. The person has to be an ambassador for the sport, the cheerleader to build grassroots support, and P.T. Barnum to build national attention to attract athletes. Winning NOW is probably not at the top of the list. The tranfer portal will play a huge role. Minnesota has to keep the athletes they want to keep and attraction those that want to transfer, but Vandy doesn't have to play defense, they need to attract those that want to come south.

So odd to see so many coaches leave positions in the middle of the school year. You assume that they found a new or better position somewhere else, but that might not be the case. There always seems to be much more to these sudden resignations. Coach just got tried of lack of support. Nothing to see here.

There always seems to be much more to these sudden resignations. Pretty sure a lot of it is woke stuff. Player or parent say something whether BS or not. School takes their side. Asks coach to leave. Pretty one sided. Like companies, they'd rather pay severance. Will probably cause more coaches to leave that career for different work Just FYI, woke means being alert to injustice. In other words, being woke means caring about how other human beings are treated. What you described...being fired without an investigation because a parent or player blamed you for something.. is an injustice itself.
