Volleyball did not get an additional paid assistant: and starting in the fall they will no longer have a volunteer assistant. The new NCAA legislation that starts on July 1, 2022 removes the volunteer assistant position altogether but allows a 4th paid employee to be a countable coach that is allowed to give on-court feedback/instruction to athletes and participate in off-campus recruiting. Depending on what their respective administration is allowing them to do re: funding, programs essentially get to add a new paid role (ie create a new assistant coaching position where they can convert their current volunteer coach to a paid one or hire someone else) or tag a current/future non-coaching staff member as a countable coach (think Ops, Tech, GA). Volleyball had 1 head coach (paid), 2 assistants paid, 1 volunteer(unpaid). Next season: 1 head coach 3 paid assistants(the volunteer is now a “paidPosition) this allows more responsibilities for that coach. I mis- spoke in previous post. I was speaking to programs that were attempting to add an additional assistant coach above their prevoius allotment of coaches.

Makes a man dream of getting fired. $1.09 mm? I'm assuming the buyout was much less. At some point didn't someone say he wasn't coaching the last couple games of the season?

If he's fired without cause he gets the whole balance of his contract.

What the hell is Warde Manuel doing in Ann Arbor? And how long will he remain doing it at Ann Arbor? Harbaugh hates him, so maybe not much longer?

If he's fired without cause he gets the whole balance of his contract. Pure speculation here. If he was fired without cause do we think he would he be listed on the Fresno State coaching roster? My guess would be yes. Could be a ton more to this but just looking at the situation makes me scratch my head.

Even as a consultant. He would have to report all that income to UM and they would deduct it. Maybe he would be a volunteer but that is about it. They are making sure he doesn’t double dip.

The contract has a mitigation clause in it.

I’m sure both parties can mutually agree to something not in the contract. Michigan could definitely say something like “based on our internal investigation, we think we can make a case for firing you for cause, but will agree to let you and your wife walk without making any results of the investigation public if you settle for $250k.” If the facts wouldn’t look good for Leisa either, that might be a good deal so she could land her new job.

Rosen had no incentive to agree to a reduction, and millions of reasons to oppose it....just my $.02
