Well, perhaps I should have said that the TIMING of this is a surprise. They were eliminated from the MAC Tournament picture by the middle of October. Firing someone because of a poor record is not a surprise. Waiting until the end of January to do it is. When you’re balling on a budget as EMU most likely is, it might make more sense? It should be noted: Dorton stepped down, she was not fired. So it was a mutual parting by the sounds of it. Maybe she got a better paying P5 assistant gig? That's what happened last time with the EMU head coach. I'm sure EMU, like many other institutions, is not in the business of paying coaches to NOT coach their team.

Could have easily been a situation where the A.D. says, hey, this isn’t working. You can resign or we will have to fire you/not renew your contract. Chances are her contract was nearing or at the end. Or maybe she just realized she wasn’t getting it done and decided to move on. Either way, looks like the right decision.

That was quick -- wonder if we will see his name attached to an upcoming announcement Yeah, he's either on his way up, or his way out. I actually think he makes sense at Long Island, where he was from 2004-2007. Of Course I'm getting that from his Oswego bio that credits him with "seven seasons at University of Massachusetts Eastern Shore" so... Or maybe back to Georgetown?

Didn't they just hire Kristi Gray like a year or two ago? They were pretty good in 2020, but have been middle of the pack lately. That's a pretty short leash.

I’m sure both parties can mutually agree to something not in the contract. Michigan could definitely say something like “based on our internal investigation, we think we can make a case for firing you for cause, but will agree to let you and your wife walk without making any results of the investigation public if you settle for $250k.” If the facts wouldn’t look good for Leisa either, that might be a good deal so she could land her new job. mgoblue.com/news/2022/11/9/volleyball-mark-rosen-taking-temporary-leave-of-absence-for-health-reasons.aspxwith the university saying he was taking a break for health reasons....hard to see them being able (in a court of law, afterall) to change and say this leave was for misconduct... Rosen had no incentive to agree to a reduction, and millions of reasons to oppose it....just my $.02 There are plenty of reasons to settle. When Wisconsin abruptly fired our football coach mid-season, the parties negotiated a settlement where the coach agreed to a reduced payout in exchange for an upfront lump sum payment (as opposed to installment payments spread out over the life of the contract) and no mitigation clause. He walked away with something like $11mil free and clear.

Oh no no no I can’t see that happening. With how he left. I woood be shocked. What he does is get fired from big schools, rebuilds at a smaller one goes to a bigger one, gets fired and keeps going. He did it with Pitt, UMES, chicago state, LIU, and on and on.

He usually goes to small school, wins, goes to big school, gets fired, goes back down to small school, wins, and does that all over. Which is why he went yo UMDS twice.

Both Georgia State assistants getting new gigs. Tough for a first year head coach. Hope things are going well for Hutch.
