#16 Emma Goerger, 6-4 MB

On Thursday, the Tommies took set three against the Pioneers to avoid a sweep (19-25, 21-25, 25-21, 14-25). St. Thomas and Denver battled back-and-forth in the third set as freshman Emma Goerger added eight of her team-high 13 kills in the game.
- Led the Tommies with 28 kills and 15 blocks, including a career-high 10 blocks at Omaha. Nine came as assisted blocks while she was one kill away from her first career double-double.
- Tallied a .273 hitting percentage with 2.80 kills per set.
- Ranks seventh in the league with 1.03 blocks per set


#9 Lauren Galvin, 5-10 OH

Sophomore Lauren Galvin reached the 500-kill mark of her career during the second set Saturday at Omaha. Needing six to reach the milestone, Galvin tied for the team-high with nine kills.  Galvin finished with 23 kills and 20 digs through the week...
- Ranks 11th in the league with 2.97 kills per set.


#22 Allie Kopp, 5-7 S

...while freshman Allie Kopp led the team with 32 assists. Kopp recorded her third double-double of the season with 16 assists and 12 digs against Omaha.
- Tied for ninth in the league with 0.30 service aces per set


#5 Carrie Rutledge, 5-9 DS

Graduate student Carrie Rutledge paced the squad with 41 digs and is now nine shy of 500 in her career.
- Tied for seventh in the Summit with 3.16 digs per set

Not a hugely compelling matchup, but I was making the match thread for the Yote site anyway... and I think there are a couple of Tommies fans on here, too.

Looks like the best players are mostly underclassmen, which makes sense in just the second year of being able to offer athletic scholarships! Goerger at MB looks like a solid addition from local MSP powerhouse Wayzata High School.

St Thomas did just take a set off of Denver, but Denver wasn't playing all their starters in that match. I feel like next year is when we will see the Tommies start to climb out of the standings basement, and maybe be a contender in 2 or 3 years? I could see an upset for them over KC or Oral Roberts this year, though.

Looks like their recruiting coordinator had spent a couple of years as a volunteer assistant at Minnesota.

Honestly, being one of only two Division-1 programs in Minnesota, and being located in the Minneapolis-St Paul metro.... I feel like having local recruiting contacts will be more important to them than nationwide or even regional ones.  And their 20-year veteran head coach has plenty of those, I would guess.  I think they'll be fine.

Elizabeth Juhnke, 6-0 OH

South Dakota (14-2, 3-1 Summit) returns junior all-American outside hitter Elizabeth Juhnke, who currently leads the NCAA with 346 kills. The five-time Summit League Performer of the Week recorded a league record 39 kills in South Dakota's five-set match against NDSU last week. The 39 kills set a USD program record and set the mark for most kills in a match in the NCAA this season.


Madison Harms, 6-3 MB

Middle blocker Madison Harms recorded a career-high 12 blocks in USD's 3-1 win over Denver on Sept. 24, which tied the four-set program record.


Lolo Weideman, 5-7 DS/L

fifth-year defensive specialist Lolo Weideman hit a career-mark in the Denver match, totaling 34 digs and matching the four-set program record. Her 4.48 digs per set leads the league.


Brooklyn Schram, 5-11 S

Brooklyn Schram's 682 total assists lead the league and ranks sixth in the NCAA.

Schoenecker Arena may be a little small for Division-1 basketball, but to me it looks like a perfect size for volleyball.  You will be pretty close to the action:
