Toddyyyyy where have you been? She got hurt on Saturday. Hurt her ACL, MCL, and meniscus. She's done for the season (if not more) I've been lurking here and there but haven't felt like posting too often. I really haven't had time to watch much ball lately. Any stand out players/teams so far this pro season? Ecza has been cracked. Elif has been good.

meh. Plummer has been not-disaster Plummer. so that's good. I'll get excited for her when she can pass and perform with the NT. Until then, next. This summer was just so disappointing as a fan of the USA. Turns out Larson and Akinradewo are the magic the team needs. I hope they come back or these young guns need to step it up a few notches. I always find it interesting that the “new” USA young guns are older than some of the seasoned European players. Haak 23 y.o. Egonu 23 Stysiak 22 Herbots 23 Karakurt 22 Lubian 22 Frantti 26 y.o. Plummer 24 Bajema 24 Lanier 24 Hall 23 Rettke 23 That’s not to say that some of them won’t catch up in their skill level, but USA must have one of the older, average age, rosters (especially for the Olympics)? Does this help or hinder them?

The Olympic roster had a lot of vets. The WC roster’s mean age still was probably older than many squads but they weren’t as successful especially after the retirement or absence of the vets. Will there be a couple of years of non-dominance until the “young guns” transition?

Does this help or hinder them? Thats what happens when you play in the NCAA and dont play high level volleyball until you are like 22-23. All the non american players you mentioned had to play against the best since they were like 18. USA's system does provide more depth though. NCAA gives the late bloomers a chance to still build there game and confidence, where as in Europe u show potential you are thrown into the fire to live or die

The World Championship is important, but its not *the* important one (see Larson, MBH, Foluke all skipping). the 2018 WCH was a mess... but it all built up leading to Tokyo (roster cuts, bringing in players like JT, Washington, Poulter, etc) I think there's give and take to both sides of it. (and they cant really help that the NCAA hinders that early development of the 20-22 year olds).... Arina would be a fraction of the player she is now if she were american.

The ncaa kinda *wrecks* usas chances at developing an elite international opposite. Sure JT is pretty good but she’s not what she coulda been I don’t think she’s really ever going to be in the top tier. The ncaa can’t develop opposites well

Soooo is anyone planning on attending the 2023 VNL finals? It's only a 5 hour drive to Arlington from where I live.
I would love to meet some of you in person. I would especially love to watch some live ball with ya'll.
Send me a private message if interested. I'll be saving up for this one for sure.
Cannot wait!

Players who just graduated from NCAA tend to have harder time to play 6 Ro OHs than Opp because of passing. IMO, it’s more about individual athleticism to become an “elite” Opp. I don’t know if anyone from NCAA has the athleticism to compete with Egonu, Haak, and Bosko.
