I'll post my regular stats on the Wisconsin thread, but somebody here was asking about the point breakdown tonight by setter for Wisconsin:
Izzy Ashburn on the court: 10-9, 11-13, 17-14, 11-13, 12-4; total 61-53
MJ Hamill on the court: 15-10, 11-12, 8-9, 7-12, 3-8; total 44-51

OK. Calming down and looking at the stats.
UW hitting almost 0.050 higher than PSU. But PSU getting 14 more attacks Service points: Basically even Blocking: 15-6 in favor of UW. Kills: 69-58 in favor of PSU. Hitting errors: 30-16 - more for PSU. The difference almost entirely accounted for by blocks.
And that is the story of the match. PSU went for it. UW tried to be low error in attack and to block well, but didn't control the ball that well. UW barely survived.

That is a big difference. But I feel like this was a match of serving runs. I'd have to watch back, but not sure how much of that is due to Hammill.

Just watched - and it struck me that Izzy Dev and Hart had rotated off and I felt WI would be in trouble in the fifth and they were until Izzy came back on. Obviously they survived that but that was a tough rotation

Demps has to be pulled from the passing. She is truly not good at that competency. She doesn't pass - or at least doesn't have to. We still have three passers when she is back. One OH in the backrow, one in the front, and GG. She is mostly playing D, serving and hitting out of the back - preserving 4 options in the 5-1 even when the setter is in the front row. She served well, and covered the court very well in my opinion. Not too many swings, but she scored once or twice in unfavorable situations. Sees court well when in the back row. Did you not watch the match Friday? She was passing, or shanking.

(Franklin and GG both with 35, Orzol with 21) Unfortunately, the sidearm page I'm able to find for last night doesn't include total number of serve receptions, just errors; Demps had none.

If PSU has to go to Pittsburgh for a 2nd round matchup, I feel pretty good that they can beat them. They are playing their best ball of the season. And PSU can travel to get some great fans there. Since they seed 32 teams, basketball-style (4 of each seed), this would only happen if PSU got a 7 seed or lower since Pitt is pretty much guaranteed to get a 1 or 2 seed. I don't see that happening; even if PSU gets swept next week, it would be by two tournament teams (since I think NU beating them would put them back in the tournament) and I don't see them dropping below 6.

Considering she’s ranked in the top 5 in hitting percentage yeah you should be surprised. It’s not like they come often. Look at your own gophers and see if anyone is surprised 😂 She’s not as clutch as you might perceive her to be These setters cannot set her.

Here's the thing with Demps... ok, let's play along:. pull her from BR, and replace with what?
It's a lot harder when you have to think about alternative strategies!

Although I don’t like how Kash constantly hits people in the head and doesn’t apologize, she’s sooo good You're not suggesting the facials are intentional, are you?

First sentence from the victory article on the WI volleyball team page: "After forcing the match to five sets, the third-ranked Wisconsin volleyball team secured a 25-19, 22-25, 25-23, 18-25, 15-12 win over No. 14 Penn State on Saturday night." Unfortunately I missed the match, but how did the Badgers force g5 by losing g4?

By playing terrible?
TBF, losing the fourth set does force a match to go 5.
