Interesting to see all of those big-name schools... and then there's Howard No one mentioning that the map shows only schools in the eastern half of the US?

Just that the OP mentions them playing "top college programs" and it's interesting that Howard is included. They are usually the top school amongst HBCU teams, so yes the are going one of the top teams and usually make the tournament.

I know men's and women's fans aren't always overlapping populations but would have made for some cool weekends of volleyball!

too bad stanford & nebraska are not playing I think Nebraska said they couldn't make it work with the schedule. I think because of beach season.

I don't remember Marathon Oil as much as I do the Athletes in Action teams, who would occasionally have legit NBA talent. The NCAA banned men's basketball programs from playing pre-season exhibitions against non-college squads around twenty years ago, although I have no idea if that ban extends to other collegiate sports (aka volleyball). When teams used to play these colleges, the teams that you were playing could tell these exhibition teams what defense they wanted them to run, had a say in offensive sets, etc. Basically a coach would give Marathon Oil the scouting report on his team and would ask the other team to "test" them in the way he wanted. I wonder if it will work the same way. The coach will say: "Hey, my OH2 needs to work on her passing, keep serving her to see how she holds up1" or "I worry about our height in the middle, keep feeding your middles" sort of thing.
