A reminder: Arina Sergeevna Fedorovtseva is only 19.If she stays healthy, works on her passing, and starts the paperwork now..... she'll be eligible to play for Team USA at the LA 2028 games!

Yes but she had to wait 2 years cause of this. (If I'm not calling it wrongly) i think you have to wait 2 years after acquiring citizenship/legal naturalisation. For example its been way more than two years since Vargas played for Cuba. Since antropova never played for the senior Russian NT i guess thats a loophole This is why Antropova's appeal to the CAS in Lausanne is important: if she wins it her sporting nationality of origin will be Italian so as soon as she has an Italian passport she will be in the same situation as all Italian players i.e. immediately eligible for the national team.
She has been in Italy since 2018, and when she started playing volleyball she presented a card paper signed by the President of the Russian Volleyball Federation in which it says that she is not a registered player in Russia.
When she switched from Sassuolo A2 to Scandicci in Russia they noticed her and, through the coach (Busato), they tried to convince her to play for their national team. However, at that time she had not yet expressed any intention about it, that is, whether to play for Russia or the Italian national team.
Then the big deal. The CEV then informs the FIVB that Antropova attended a sports school in Russia and was listed (without the knowledge of Antropova and, apparently, the Federation President) among the players. This enrollment was the pretext for the FIVB to give a new interpretation to Rule 2.4.1 of the sport regulations
and thus declare Antropova a Russian player.
For the record, on the days of this event she was supposed to be part of, Antropova said she was on vacation (abroad).

Would Antropova be #2 in the italian opposites pecking order after Egonu? Some suggest that she could also play as OH.

does it make sense for italy nt to have club italia in b1? I’ve never been a great supporter of Club Italia as a concept, so my answer is no. But since it brought some benefits to Italy NT… I guess my opinion is just irrelevant, lol. Since 1998 (years of foundation) Club Italia spent more seasons in Serie B than in Serie A. FIPAV decided to put it permanently in Serie A2/A1 only since 2014 (besides a quick Serie A2 partecipation in 2009/10 season, iirc). In the past two A2 seasons the team was very bad, so… it’s a decision based on the level of the players they have.
