Even tho UH #8, according to NCAA prediction, LSU is the fav to win. So was MS last year also being the fav. UH 3/1 Yeah, I saw the talking heads (two young women) picking LSU over Hawaii. More motivation for Hawaii!

Just goes to show how much (or how little) people know about Women's collegiate Volleyball. And I mean no disrespect to LSU who is a good team (I watched a few of their SEC matches this season, this team can play volleyball). But here are the facts: Hawaii'i is not a stranger to the NCAA's. This is their 29th straight, and 40th overall NCAA tournament appearance. This is a program that is used to playing in the NCAA’s. And this team is lead by an Olympian, and former First team AA setter who has played in the NCAA finals during her career. No stage is too big for Hawai’i volleyball. The Big West is not the SEC, but the Big West Champion should be expected to beat the 7th place team in the SEC. People outside of Hawaii expected the Bows to lose to the team that finished 2nd in the SEC last season in last year’s tournament just because Mississippi State was an SEC team, but Hawai’i has owned the SEC (outside of Florida). Hawai’i won, yes in 5 but 2 of the 3 sets the Bows won were blowouts. Hawaii was a Jekyll and Hyde team last year, which probably contributed to their uneven play. While they have been up and down sometimes this season, it’s not nearly at the level of last season. Hawai’i is used to travelling to California to play volleyball, they are used to playing in the NCAA’s and LSU is not. It’s not a knock against LSU, it’s simply a fact. The challenge for Hawai’i is to jump out early and stay on top. Hawai’i has a habit of letting other teams run points early in the first set, and then they fight back but in a one and done type of match, they’d be wise not to shoot themselves in the foot.
Childester didn’t give a reason why she picked LSU to win other than she didn’t want to pick all the favorites but this is what we see when people are making tournament predictions- Hawaii is always the easy team to overlook. Having watched Hawaii all year, I know this team is really good. They just must show up and play like it and I know Robyn will have them ready. And I suspect the Wahine will bring a lot of fans to Maples.

Many just here the word "Hawaii" and kind of dismiss them for being Hawaii. But that's OK like some mentioned. It will fuel UH more and I'm sure Robyn is using this as motivation in practice and prep for game.

They’re not close to Hawai’i in volleyball. That’s not a knock on LSU, that’s just making comparisons between the 2 programs. That’s what I mean when I talk about people picking LSU because it’s just Hawaii on the other side of the court. Can LSU win? Absolutely- they have a good team with some dynamic players but Hawaii is the better team, and for people looking at X’s and O’s, where is LSU better than the Bows? Dotson over Wags? Wags is a complete player so I don’t really know. Btw, I’m not sure Robyn is the type of coach to need motivation for her or her team. She is always teaching so I suspect she cares much more about fundamentals and game management than she does respect but yeah, I want the Bows to play with a chip on their shoulders. Kate, especially.

Watching LSU, I think Hawaii has better ball control. The Tigers serve receive is atrocious. Hawaii's serving might put them in all sorts of passing troubles. Both have very offensive setters. I think Hawaii has the edge.
