Such a shame that it seems like all 10 (!) seniors/graduate students are departing the volleyball program at Northwestern. TTA, Becker, Lesiak, Cannon, etc. all in the portal. Definitely raises some eyebrows about the team's coaching, culture, etc. Wonder if this has anything to do with the COVID year non-COVID game suspensions. When fully healthy, Northwestern was talented; moving forward, back to bottom 1/3 of the Big Ten. What a shame. As mentioned previously, there is a good chance this is happening because you don't simply walk into a master's program at Northwestern. Having a bachelor's from Northwestern does you no favors in getting into a grad program, as the vast majority of those programs are top 2-3 or 5 in the country. I'm sure they are all keeping their options open in case of rejection. It's very similar to the Ivy League, where most students wishing to take advantage of the COVID year had to graduate, de-enroll from their university, re-apply to a master's program, and then be readmitted before being added to their sport's roster.

Even more telling, is that while the 10 seniors / grads are all in the portal, I don't believe there is anyone from Northwestern who is an underclassman and in the portal. I'd say that's pretty indicative that it's academically related, as if there was a serious "culture issue", this would be a statistical anomaly.

I agree with this, along with the fact that any major transfers would have happened last year if it was a result of the drama that happened over covid.

Not sure why our brand new friend is having this level of panic attack about the great migration of NW seniors. I also don’t think general wanderlust is unique to NW seniors who’ve put in 4 years and might just simply want something… different.

They've been in the toilet since Marci took over. Players have cited team drama, poor coaching, bad culture, etc. And of course they're losing consistently so who knows how long Byers will hang on. Players transferring out after just one season isn't a good look. I would be hesitant to play there if I were a PSA. Ok. Let's look at the transfer from Virginia Tech. Last Year 1 kid was academic related 1 kid got two codes of conduct via VT that Marci tried to help but couldn't. 2 kids didn't want to follow the drinking policy and decided to leave on their own Only one of those kid went P5 as a walk on everyone else dropped a level which was good for them. This Year 3 are grads that VT didn't have money for. 4 are walk ons who didn't play or didn't play much (one had health issues, that was the call by the medical staff.) 1 scholarship kid who got into 2 matches Virginia Tech has not lost a full time starter to the portal. Character assassination is the norm here, people love to do it behind pseudonyms, if that's how you get your giggles, then by all means do it. Just remember that ED prescriptions are cheap and more effective. Multiple sides to every story. I didn't assassinate anyone's "character". The fact that I don't think the program is somewhere I'd want to play isn't based on Marci's character. I shared info that I've received specifically from players who are in, have graduated, and/or have left the program. This thread is called "transfer portal TEA".

Would Northwestern also be hard to transfer into due to academic requirements then?

Is Stanford by far the hardest to transfer into?
Or are schools like NW just as hard?
I’m assuming notre dame is one of the harder ones too?

I shared info that I've received specifically from players who are in, have graduated, and/or have left the program. This thread is called "transfer portal TEA". Let us parse your masterpiece. They've been in the toilet since Marci took over. Year Ovall W Ovall L Ovall % Conf W Conf L Conf % 2022 11 18 37.93% 4 14 22.22% 2021 12 18 40.00% 3 15 16.67% 2020 6 11 35.29% 5 11 31.25% Byers 29 47 38.16% 12 40 23.08%2019 11 20 35.48% 4 14 22.22% 2018 14 16 46.67% 5 13 27.78% 2017 10 21 32.26% 4 16 20.00% Prior 35 57 38.04% 13 43 23.21%According to the stats for the last six years, Byers record is almost identical to the previous three years. So explain "in the toilet" quantitatively. Players have cited team drama, poor coaching, bad culture, etc. Players that I have pointed out are not getting playing time, mix that context into their comments and see what you get. By the way, you completely ignored the list, how convenient. In addition, you are attributing all these problems to the mouths of the unnamed transferred players. The issues are damning, and yet you do not cite specific incidences or verified accounts. Did you learn your reporting from Fox? I reiterate, they have not lost a starter since she started. And of course they're losing consistently so who knows how long Byers will hang on. See the records I cited above. They are not losing any more or less than the program did for the last three years. Players transferring out after just one season isn't a good look. I would be hesitant to play there if I were a PSA. If you are going to use this tired trope, are you calling out all the programs that have lost players to the portal? Why don't list all of the teams that you think the potential PSA because the players are abandoning for all to see, just to be sure.

Stanford has one of the lowest acceptance rates (somewhere around 4%) in the entire country. Their graduate school has an even lower acceptance rate than the undergraduate school. I'm not sure on the acceptance rate for NW (grad or undergrad), but I would imagine that it's pretty low along with schools like Vanderbilt, Duke, Rice, UCLA, USC, etc.

I dont think nw is quite as hard as stanford but I could be wrong. NW accepts abut 10% of students while stanford is at 5%. I assume the Ivys must be as hard or harder right? being an athlete helps you get in 99% of places. while im sure they're very smart young women to their own credit, do I think every player on roster would've gotten into regular admissions at stanford as just a regular student? probably not

From what I remember when researching graduate schools to attend, Harvard/Princeton/MIT had lower acceptance rates than Stanford. WahineFan44 - Notre Dame is somewhere around 14-15% I think?

From experience having athletes being recruited by Ivy's and ND, ND is harder for an athlete to get into for some reason than lets say Princeton or Yale. At least from a volleyball perspective.
