It's not a skill problem. Ouch.

that only puts 3 middles on Pitts roster right? they'll definitely want a 4th... just a question of whether or not they'll have the scholarship for one fairbanks, akeo, vvg, Stafford, bayless, babcock, dalton, nwokolo, klika, monks, and starks i assume are all on scholarship which is 11 total... wonder if browske is. I also think the Pitt staff probably knew a while ago that nwokolo was coming back and were still recruiting Kelley so I think they do have an open spot still... monks transferring to play the bench would be unfortunate lol Starks used her Covid year already. Browske graduated Pitt and is not coming back oh then they forsure have another scholarship lol

Great use of the “Minnesota interesting” 😂 I think it’s pretty obvious this wasn’t her first or second or third or fourth top choice. I’m actually a bit shocked she ended up at a worse performing program…

I’m actually a bit shocked she ended up at a worse performing program… So was her trouble in finding a program due to attitude, academics (although since UVA isn’t an easy school to get in to I’m guessing it’s not this), coachability, off-court shenanigans? What’s the tea on this?

I go to most Maryland home VB matches and have said many times on here that Gomillion is not a B1G libero. I think she made a mistake thinking she is better than she is and unfortunately for her found that out after she entered the portal. She's from Bowie MD--about 30 minutes to College Park compared to about 3 hours to Charlottsville (a lot closer than most B1G schools). Unless there were reasons for her wanting to leave Maryland, I think she is regretting entering the portal. As far as I can tell she is a good kid and played for Hughes' wife's club team. I wish her well.

Anyone know generally what percentage of D1 players enter the transfer portal but end up not transferring/staying at their original school?

In the 2021-2022 School year 1,066 D1 Volleyball players entered the portal 634 of those players matriculated to another school, 100 withdrew from the portal and 332 players remain active. Approximately 30% of athletes don't find a place to play in the NCAA. This doesn't mean that some couldn't have gone JUCO or NAIA.
The 2022-23 Data has not been updated yet.

So in theory those 100 that withdrew stayed at their current school. The 332 that remain active - you’re saying they are either not playing at all or went juco or naia because you can’t play on any NCAA team, regardless of division, even as a walk on, and be in the portal at the same time?

I would assume that you are no longer listed in the portal if you have transferred schools. To transfer again, my understanding is that you must reenter the portal.

Will be interesting to see if the 22-23 data is significantly different than the 21-22 since the super seniors counted against the ship limit in 22, but didn't in 21. Makes me think the 22 numbers will show more portal entries and less success in finding a new school since there were less available ships in 22.
