Question: I am curious...If a player is transferring in May & has announced/committed to a new school, do they practice in the Spring with the team? Might be easier for grad transfers, but, for example, what about Jess Mruzik? She is graduating (a year early) from UM in May then heading to PSU with 2 years of eligibility left. No. You can't practice with the team until officially enrolled.

For Murzik, I could see where Michigan's new staff lets her keep training with the team this spring in the hopes they will get her to rethink her verbal commitment and stay at Michigan. I know several grad transfers who are allowed to train with their current teams this spring prior to graduating and going elsewhere for the fall. I think it really just depends on the situation/reason for transfer and of coach the coaching staff.

From the sounds of things Mruzik burned some bridges within the team last season and afterwards. But hey, from all accounts EV is a great human and great with relationships, so maybe she can help mend those bridges.

I'm not saying it is possible or that Mruzik would want to, but I could see the Michigan coaches making the offer.

It’s not uncommon for kids to still train with their current schools even though they’re leaving for the sake of having bodies in the gym for their current school. But yes, as previous posters have mentioned, it’s up to the coaching staff.

So it is certainly possible to change your mind. Lots of examples in this football portal cycle.

However as you state, it does not obligate the athlete to transfer to that school which only occurs when the athlete attends class (even enrolling does not obligate). In fact, an athlete transferring can sign grant in aid documents with multiple schools.

Podraza and Mruzik in the span of a few days. Things are looking good in Happy Valley.
