Could the Huff floor be rotated 90 degrees so seating could be along walls that don’t have posts? Huff was built for basketball and basketball court length is not needed. With wrestling moving there may be room for rehabbed lockers, meeting rooms, workout space and other amenities along with air-conditioning, at a much lower cost than a new arena. I’m tired af losing recruits and transfers because of our facilities. Unfortunately, I don't think any facility upgrades are going to happen unless donors step up and earmark $$ specifically for WVB. This is the only reason Wrestling is getting their upgrades. Two families are funding the bulk of it. And if you look at Softball, same thing. They have a very wealthy backer who pays for the upgrades. Currently, all the focus is on NIL for Football and Basketball. I hope I'm wrong, but cosmetic changes are probably it for the foreseeable future. I've basically accepted that Illinois now has a ceiling of 6th in the B1G. Move to State Farm Center. Solves the site line, locker room, bathroom and parking issues. Lose the charm and close seating, but they aren't going to get that in a new facility anyway.

It’s Whitman’s job to find donors to fund a new facility. With a huge alumni base, there should be someone willing to step up. Schools typically have a capital masterplan with competing priorities. I’m certain a new facility is part of the this ongoing discussion and trust Whitman will get it done.

Rich keep getting richer - PSU picks up Mruzik from MI & Podraza from OSU. You have to go after players like that to get richer........we don't seem to go after players like that.

If I remember correctly, there was something about the timing of when he was hired back in 2017, where he said they were already behind on recruiting by the pure nature of the volleyball world. He said it was going to be tough to find those big name recruits since many were already committed to other programs, but that he was always great at finding diamonds in the rough. I know i’ve read that or have heard it before in his interviews from early on.

I was referring to going after players in the portal specifically also. The top teams if they have a position of need, which we have a few in my opinion, they seem to be going aggressively after experienced top players in the portal so they can continue to stay at the top year in and year out.

Looking to change gears because there's been too much negativity on here lately (myself included).
Top 3 Things You're Looking Forward to for the Upcoming Season:
1. Mosher as full-time setter. Really excited to see how Brooke handles the new role and if our offense gets more diverse. 2. The Freshman (True and Redshirt) - Tamas is on-record favoring the redshirt year, but I think there is a real opportunity for Barry and De Boer. Throw in Bohm and Stevenson and we should have a nice competition in the gym. 3. A fully healthy Collins. I'm really pulling for Kennedy this year.

Thanks for the gear-shift, pointillinois : ). I share some of your top three but here are a few others.
1. Have to imagine Kennedy is a lock as one of the middles; I'm excited to watch Bingham, Bohm, and Dean compete for that second middle slot. 2. Looking forward to Barnes and Barry developing some back row chemistry. The Barnes and Kuper chemistry was huge for us in 2021. 3. Brooke busting out some of those patented lefty rips on second contact.

1.) My gut tells me DeBoer is going to come in and be our 2nd OH. A 6'4" OH with hops. 2.) I'd like to see Burbage play the entire year like she did those 1st few matches last year. 3.) Raina have a 1st or 2nd team AA Season. 4.) Our 2nd MB spot will be a fight between Bingham & Dean.

The one time Bingham got to play because of injuries to the players in front of her I thought she did a good job. Got some good swings and showed good lateral movement in her blocking. I was actually a little surprised she did not get more time later in the season when Kennedy was obviously struggling because of her ankle. Middle is a tough position for a freshman, the game moves so much faster than even the best clubs.

I thought she did a nice job that game, too, and her play yielded maybe my favorite photo from last season:

On my wishlist for 2023 - a new uniform? Maybe the adoption of an Illinois script jersey?

Anyone have any insight into any players we might be targeting in the portal or potential recruits? We are seriously thin on the pins
