This could be a very quiet off season for Robyn and the Wahine, even with 1 scholarship to give out. Robyn will be very selective in going after a player in the transfer portal. The returning players have great chemistry, and work ethic. Something Robyn would not want to disrupt. The Coaching Staff have 2 years to bring in an experienced transfer Middle, they do not have to do it this off season. If the coaching staff cannot find that transfer player who would fit right into the team chemistry they have created, would not be surprised if the scholarship goes to a player like Ham. I could see Ham getting a scholarship in her last season, just like Gong did. IF we don't use the scholarship on another player.

Amber is all over the record books, but if there is one area she can improve on is her blocking. Even though she is ranked 4th in the UH Record Book, in this area, she is not yet, a Dominant Blocker. Someone, opposing Hitters cannot Hit through.

Hawaii will be using the portal. I just want to know what the staff has in mind. Because yes it is doable to get in a transfer transfer middle by the Spring of 24 if Mili and/or Maddie don’t come in early. Just not ideal. No idea what the immigration process is going to be like for Tali Hakas so when it comes to foreign recruits I’m always going to err on the side of caution. So an extremely productive right side would be a big help. Keep looking at the boxscore from the LSU match and Westerberg and Akana’s numbers really were the story of most of the season. Would love to see them continue to improve but another big proven arm would be a great add. Next’s seasons pins would have been Riley, Caylen, and Hanna if everything had worked out, but we’ve yet to really find someone to replace Hellvig’s production from that momentum Year.

I think it all depends who enters the portal. We are in contact with a libero who imo would replace tayli. Whether they get a schollie is tbd but she’s a schollie type of player imo

I believe with the signing of Tali Hakas and Stella Adeyemi, Robyn strengthened the team when Amber's position goes to the back row. This was the weakness of the Wahine team this past season. Next season it will not be a weakness anymore, with the addition of these 2 players.

I’m guessing that this is a lib that has Hawaii ties and might have reached out already? I’m all for pushing Ikenaga, as good as she is, she really only has been a Libero for 2 seasons. If the staff is confident the other positions will be fine then I’ll trust them but Libero would have been last on my bingo list lol

She has family in Hawaii I think.

Not worried about the Opposite Position next season. That position will go to Caylen Alexander. Thinking either Tali Hakas, or Stella Adeyemi will take over Caylen Alexander's position at Outside Hitter.
Westerberg has to decide which she wants to be, an Offensive Middle, or a Blocking Middle. She is not the type of Athlete who can be both. She has to just concentrate on one of those aspects, then be the Best that she can be at doing that.

Never actually seen her play but an experienced PAC12 libero would be an upgrade.
