I have sat by this couple the last several years at all the games. They were seated by Ellie at one of the team luncheons with fans/boosters. They always gushed about how nice she was to them and how their grandchildren adored her. Back when she was primarily a serving sub, he would say "that's my favorite server" every time she went back. I'll miss that and I know they will be super sad. I hope she has a great grad year!!

At the beginning of the year, I was surprised at how much she had improved and how good she was, especially against Purdue. I hope she ends up in a high level program and enjoys being the libero for the whole season. She will be missed.

Ellie will be a great team leader for whoever gets her in addition to what she can bring defensively and from the service line.

Ellie Bolton appreciation post... She was a great teammate, always engaged whether on the court or on the sideline. She came into the program with high expectations, expected to be the newest in a series of 4-year starters at the libero position, and indeed she won the starting position her freshman year and did a serviceable job in what was a down year for the team, mostly due to a dropoff at the setter position. The next year she was supplanted by Bottomley but adjusted well to the DS role and saw regular court time. Her junior year saw the importation of Whitten at setter and she was surpassed by McCune at DS, but continued to have a valuable role as serving specialist. Her senior year, this season, the importation of transfer liberos ended and Bolton won the starting job over McCune, in a twist from the previous season. A foot injury derailed her season. Breissinger took over at libero and never relinquished the position. When Sis got injured, Martin became a 6-rotation player, which meant the DS role shrunk and was taken over mostly by McCune, whose passing improved dramatically from the beginning of the season to the end. Likewise, McCune was called upon for the role of serving specialist. Despite a myriad of ups and downs, Bolton radiated positive energy and attitude throughout, and always looked like she was having fun.
She certainly has the talent to be the starting libero at any number of midmajor teams. Perhaps she will continue the Creighton-to-High-Point pipeline; High Point graduates 2 of their 5 DS's.
Thank you, Ellie Bolton, and good luck!

Wait makes history as the first Creighton Volleyball player to earn AVCA All-America accolades as a freshman, sophomore and junior. She is the third Bluejay to become a three-time AVCA All-American, joining Kelli Browning (2012, 2013, 2014) and Jaali Winters (2015, 2016, 2018).

If only Norah hadn't gotten hurt, they could have done it together.

well, this is more unexpected Agreed. Good luck to her going forward! They raved about Jaya Johnson on latest Creighton pod (both as an attacker and server) so I'm looking forward to seeing her in action.
