I was sitting here thinking BYU is going to struggle against San Diego next year. Then I remembered BYU is in the Big12.
Nice to see Madi Allen pass that last ball perfectly. She was the one that passed the free ball in the net last year BYU vs Purdue.

What a weird season. First, props to Skinner for dramatically improving this team. Preseason UK wasn't even a Sweet 16 team. But, it still hurts to see so much potential, and so much... lack of focus? Willpower? Idk. But not good, and not the best way to feel as a fan.
San Diego is a machine. Congrats! I know there's been a lot of focus on how tall/athletic they are, but Blossom makes all of them so. much. better. They aren't the fastest, highest jumpers, or the hardest hitters (not all of them, anyways) but Blossom is queen. Would love to see them win their first title now. "Solid" (in the best way) is the best word I can think of to describe them.
I'm glad Tealer is coming back, but she isn't fitting into the current offense well. Not a good game for her, or Rollins. Grome's growth was on display this game and I think she genuinely played well, so that's encouraging. Hopefully with our incoming class, our LS hitters aren't such a concern next year.
Congrats again SD! What remarkable volleyball.

Best performance by a team by far in any of the regional matches today.
Super impressed.

I think this is going to be an upset. Kentucky has improved lately. They have all the tools to win this match. so what tools were they missing tonight ?

With the exception of the glorious 2020 season, UK consistently underperforms in the NCAA compared to their SEC conference standing... Lilley, Curry, Stumler, and the Skinner sisters gave them a bump from 2017 through 2020, but they're now back to where they were before that... Will the addition of Texas and Oklahoma elevate the whole conference, and help them better prepare for the NCAA? UK 2010 - 17-14 (11-9 SEC; NCAA 1st Round) UK 2011 – 28-6 (17-3 SEC; NCAA – Sweet 16) UK 2012 – 22-11 (14-6 SEC; NCAA – Sweet 16) UK 2013 – 22-9 (13-5 SEC; NCAA – 2nd Round) UK 2014 – 27-6 (15-3 SEC; NCAA – 2nd Round) UK 2015 – 21-9 (14-4 SEC; NCAA – First Round) UK 2016 – 23-8 (15-3 SEC; NCAA – 2nd Round) UK 2017 – 29-4 (17-1 SEC; NCAA –Elite 8) UK 2018 – 26-5 (18-0 SEC; NCAA – Sweet 16) UK 2019 – 25-7 (16-2 SEC; NCAA – Sweet 16) UK 2020 – 24-1 (19-1 SEC; NCAA – National Champions) UK 2021 – 25-5 (17-1 SEC; NCAA – 2nd Round) UK 2022 – 22-8 (15-3 SEC; NCAA – Sweet 16) But what about compared to their NCAA seeding. At least this year they didn't underperform in that regard.

I'm sorry you typed out this post because it's an awful point to make. How can you underperform in the NCAA tournament based on conference standings lol...?

I genuinely hope SD wins a National Championship, or anyone else, because after UK's National Championship, it feels like every game they play, everyone roots against them lol. Bitter Florida fans, fans cheering for the underdogs, etc. It's just hard when there are only like 5 actual UK fans here, so the match threads become... not fun?
At least when Texas or Nebraska plays, they have 100 posters to drown out the 100 posters rooting against them.
