I thought Wucherer serve looked very good. She can hammer that ball. Even from the back court. Her sister was on the sidelines. Minatee looked very comfortable and seem to have a quickness about her on both the slide and blocking. I counted at least 6 or 7 blocks. (N D is a smaller team) For those people who like middle sets there were a lot. Landfair did not play the last two sets. She is still awesome. Keegan seemed a little nervous and surprised at the large crowd. One of the coaches was doing a version of the wave with the bench. Of all the players Minatee was the most surprising. Looking forward to seeing her play against a really good team on BIG10+. Agree on Wucherer's hard flat serve. I saw she had 6 aces in the 2nd match in Hawaii.

Wonder what the impact on Phoebe Awoleye could be, if anything. This is her second transfer. Memo says it’s in effect for the 23/24 season…

Yea they are cracking down on the transfers after 1. Watching women’s BB the other night and 3 or 4 of the players were on their 3rd or 4th school. CRAZY!!

Can anyone confirm what time doors would open on Tuesday? I’d assume hour before game time?

I just joined the page recently, and first I would like to say how enthused I am to see so many other people who love minnesota as much as me, and also have so much to say, which I love reading! With that being said, theres a few things I want to say, some of which might be considered "old news" and some new questions as well.
1) I know the whole Carter Booth transfer is something most of us have probably gotten over, but I feel like there were some key clues to her transfer that I never saw people discuss, that seemed quite evident to me. If you follow the individual players on social media (insta and tik tok), it is quite evident that there are cliques on the team (and I am not saying that is necessarily a bad thing). But it seemed quite obvious to me that Carter never penetrated any of these cliques and thus, didn't see friendships really growing. Its obvious it wasn't because of playing time, and if you look at Tik Tok and Insta, it is very common for these players to post the same 2-3 of their closest friends on their social media, whereas Carter seemed very to herself on social media. I ultimately think she did not gel well with the team, and I think that is supported by the fact that multiple gopher fans no longer follow her, and she never voiced genuine emotion about missing any of the players on the team. I know this is not the most inventive idea, but again, I didn't really see anyone specifically recognize the existence of these cliques or friend groups as a reason she decided to transfer, in the sense she never really was part of any of them.
Onto the newer ideas and thoughts -I wasn't able to watch the Hawaii matches, but does Skylar Gray seem like a viable option as a DS for the opposite? She was an outside in club and highschool, I wonder if she could be like Kenzie Knuckles and hit backrow in addition to playing defense? Would definitely be a new wrinkle for the team -It seems like since the national training camp and spring matches, Amber Igiede (MB) from Hawaii really hit it off with Minnesota, and Mel and TL at the camp. Any thoughts that she would enter the transfer portal and come play with us next season? -In terms of opposites, it looks like we have 3 options (Crowl, Grote, Schnicles). Crowl sort of reminds me of Molly Philips, good blocker and consistent, but really only set in-system. I don't know much about Grote and Schnicles, but to me they seem slightly more versatile as players. What is most important in an opposite considering we already have 2 really strong outsides.
sorry if this post is super long...will tone it down in the future

I think you’ve got a great point about Booth, she seems pretty tight with Devyn Robinson and mingles with the players more. If she finds she fits in better there then good for her! Sometimes personalities don’t mix on teams and that’s okay. I wish Igiede would decide to go to MN but I highly doubt it. She loves Hawaii(and Hawaii loves her back) too much to transfer. She’s become the face of that program and more power to her for embracing it. The more I think about the Grote transfer, I actually think she’s going to have the biggest impact. Her job at Cal was to take out the trash and she did it very well for them. If we can use her OOS it’ll open things up a lot for our OH duo, especially if she can hit a good D ball. I don’t think she’ll be the second coming of Samedy but she might really flourish with this team and a much much much better setter.
